After failing to conquer Ronda Rousey last weekend in the Strikeforce cage, former women’s bantamweight champion Sarah Kaufman is wasting no time in getting back to action, this time in Invicta FC. Kaufman will be taking on Kaitlin Young, who she was slated to face at Elite XC’s cancelled show in 2008.
Kaufman (15-2), who is still with Striekforce, is on a 3-1 run since losing her championship to Marloes Coenen in 2010. Despite her recent loss to Rousey, Kaufman has put together an impressive resume in that time, holding wins over the likes of Alexis Davis, Liz Carmouche, and Megumi Yabushita.
Young (7-6-1) is 2-1-1 in her recent run. After taking back-to-back wins against Lizbeth Carreiro and Anna Barone, the Minnesotan fought to a split draw with Leslie Smith at Invicta FC 1. Young then returned to the Invicta cage but fell short against Liz Carmouche, succumbing to a second-round rear-naked choke.
Invicta FC 3 takes place on October 6 in Kansas City, Kansas. The event is once again expected to stream online for free.
