Martin KampmannThe UFC has confirmed our earlier reports about Martin Kampmann having to withdraw from UFC 72. Here is what the UFC has released via UFC.com:

“A knee injury suffered during training has forced middleweight contender Martin Kampmann to withdraw from his June 16th bout with Rich Franklin in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A new opponent for Franklin is currently being sought for the UFC 72 main event and will be announced shortly.”

While talking with MMAWeekly.com Kampmann’s agent Ken Pavlia stated that the injury happened last week while he was training in Las Vegas and that Kampmann will likely be out of action for at least several months.
