When news hit late last night that Jon Jones would be facing Vitor Belfort instead of Lyoto Machida at UFC 152, it was met with a collective head-scratch from the MMA community. Machida has released a statement regarding his decision through Blackhouse, citing an inability to put together a proper camp to face someone the likes of Jon Jones. The Brazilian also stated that he would have preferred to rematch the champion at UFC 153 in Rio.
Machida, who currently stands as the incumbent number-one contender to Jones’ title behind his devastating knockout of Ryan Bader at UFC on Fox 4, was slated to meet the winner of the UFC 151 main event which would have seen Jon Jones take on Dan Henderson. “The Dragon” will now wait in the wings to face the victor of the Belfort-Jones bout which takes place at UFC 152.

Hey Jesse, that article is really hard to read and when you click it, loops back to this article.
He would have taken it for.
Does it? I’m having some serious backend issues today.
Yeah clicking on it or right click, open in new tab/window still loops back here.
I’ll try and get Chris to take care of it. I have no clue what’s going on but my dashboard is being ridiculously unresponsive and making posting next to impossible.
@Will, is that better? I’m trying but I can’t seem to get WP to respond properly or save my edits.
When you click on it, it still send you back here, but it looks good to me. I’m able to read it nice and clear.
Thanks
word, I’m guess WP resized the image although it didn’t show up in the draft. Friggin’ internet.
Much better, am able to read it without headbutting my monitor.
@willyd
LOL, That’s hilarious! :-)
that is completly reasonable! wait till 153, 6 weeks is a good amount of time to prepare for both fighters
I really do believe Machida has the tools to win against Jon Jones and i would do the same if it was my decision to make. Lyoto is not a fool knowing that jones is a very complex fighter,and i dont think he really understood the brilliance of J Jones so now he is being a more disciplined student of his own style in being patient and training better for the likes of the beast that is Mr. jones
I think that out of the 3 opponents for J Jones that Belfort has the best chance at dethroning th BEAST
I also like Brian Stann vs. Pisping match can you spell F.O.T.N
Fairly certain that the only light heavyweight that can beat Jones is Alexander Gustafsson (14-1) with another fight (or 2) under his belt he will be a force to be reckoned with at 205.
