With the world abuzz with rumors that Dan Henderson suffered an injury that would keep him out of UFC 151, the UFC hurriedly put together a short-notice teleconference to confirm the unfortunate news, Dan Henderson has a partial tear in his ACL. Just nine days out, the promotion struggled to put together a replacement bout for next weekend’s event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
According to UFC President Dana White, only one man would take the fight, Chael Sonnen. There was only one problem, Jon Jones refused to fight Sonnen on such short notice, despite the recent verbal jabs the two have taken at one another.
With no main event and a rather anemic undercard, it wasn’t hard to guess what came next. The dejected White stated, “This is an all-time low for me as UFC President. This is the first time we’re canceling an event in 11 years.” The UFC 151 moniker will now be passed down to UFC 152, which takes place September 22 in Toronto, where Jon Jones will now face Lyoto Machida in a rematch of their December bout.
As for the rest of the fighters on the bill, Dana White still has no idea what kind of shuffle will transpire but they will all be moved to other cards, whether or not they will still be paired together remains to be seen.
The UFC president has confirmed that Ticketmaster will offer refunds to all UFC 151 ticket holders.

Jones was basically training for Chael anyways just “Hendo” offers 1 punch knockout power. This makes no sense. I’m glad I wasn’t one of the unlucky fans to have tickets for this event. I can only imagine canelling a hole ton of shit because we got a picky champion.

gutted for people who had tickets flights etc but why cancel the whole card? ave been to 2 events in the UK that have been worse off than this and enjoyed them.
I started disliking jones before the rampage fight. More of his true colors keep coming through. Arrogant, disrespectful, drunk and reckless driving, and now as the champ refusing to fight someone. Now the rest of the card gets scrapped. I feel for the other guys, I know they will fight soon, but the lower card guys really need that money. Also they won’t peak on time for their fights. Such bs bones!

Not sure where the consternation towards Jones is coming from. Neither Sonnen or Bisping is worthy of a title shot. The man trained for Henderson, and now he’ll train for the next man up.
Who I really feel bad for are the ham-and-eggers on the undercard who wont get their 15K, 20K what have you that they were counting on to pay the rent and feed their kids. Now that has to hurt..

The worst part about this that someone else already stated is that Sonnen is almost the same fighter as Hendo without the power in his hands what does Jones need a full training camp for.

He is so cocky all the time and does all this flashy stuff in the ring but when it comes down to it Chael is down to fight whenever Jones is not.
Jones should have realized how much he is messing up everything for everybody by not taking a replacement bout with Chael. If he is gonna be so cocky all the time he should take the fight with Chael at least for his fans.

Didn’t Jones get his shot because Rashad got hurt, Shogun still took that fight. May not have been as short of notice but if Jones was not scared to fight the smaller Sonnen he would step up. He is still a great fighter but only wants to fight for a paycheck not because he loves to fight. He is gonna lose respect of many by not taking the Chael option.
Until he wins a couple fights. MMA fans are fickle.
