It’s a rematch no one really expected see, but former UFC Champions and bitter rivals Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski will meet for a fourth time at ONE FC 5: “Pride of a Nation” at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines on August 31. It’s been a long time since both men were considered the upper echelon of the UFC heavyweight division, and while all three of their previous bouts were for UFC gold, this time it’s a battle to stay relevant in the new heavyweight world. The two first met at UFC 51, where Andrei Arlovski pasted Sylvia with trademark piston of a right hand, dropping the “Maine-iac” and sinking an achilles lock. Their second match-up at UFC 59 saw more of the same, but when the “Pitbull” opened up too recklessly looking for the kill, the giant was able to find his chin and put him out. Their final meeting at UFC 61 can only be described as tepid, putting Sylvia up 2-1 in their series. Both men now look to put the demons of their passed bouts behind them and make it back to the leagues.
