The world of mixed martial arts has been abuzz with rumors since Benson Henderson took a razor thin split decision over Frankie Edgar in his first UFC lightweight title defense this passed Saturday. Everyone knows Nate Diaz is next for Bendo, but it’s the “when” that has people up in arms. The calling to have the match-up between Henderson and Diaz, two well-known action fighters, on Fox has been overwhelming.
Many have gone ahead and assumed that the UFC lightweight title will be the headliner of the network’s December 8 card behind Dana White’s “We have some fun s**t planned for that one” comment.
According to “Smooth’s” manager, Malki Kawa, it is a possibility that the fight will be on Fox, if not the promotion’s usual elephantine New Year’s show. As he told Steph Daniels of BloodyElbow.com:
We’ll see what the UFC wants to do. I’m thinking that the New Year’s card sounds pretty cool, and there’s also that Fox 5 card that they’ve got in December, so that could be a possibility. I’m not sure what they’re thinking yet. I haven’t spoken with Joe or Dana, but as soon as we do, hopefully we’ll get something figured out.

Finally we get a good fight. They’re all good, don’t get me wrong. We just don’t get a good fight like this one. For some reason both Diaz’s brothers are held back from us. Problems with Dana White, or not wanting to talk to the press. Come-on man, really. I think White is jealous of the two brothers. Like they have no say so about anything. Maybe there not very good at giving interveiws, but they sure do kick some ass. I do not believe they will give any Diaz a title shot. Bottom line, WE DON’T GET TO SEE THE BEST FIGHTERS FIGHT.
“I do not believe they will give any Diaz a title shot”
Dana already said after Nate’s last win he was next in line, and the fight with Henderson is already in the works. Nate will fight for the title.
“Bottom line, WE DON’T GET TO SEE THE BEST FIGHTERS FIGHT.”
Ummmm, if you’re talking about Diaz, actually because of the title picture at 155 Nate Diaz was offered another fight if he wanted to stay busy and HE CHOSE to wait for his title shot.

I commend ‘Bendo’ for staying so active, he just defended his title (according to the jugdes anyway) and is already talking about his next defense against Diaz taking place in the next 4-4 1/2 months.
