Cris “Cyborg” Open to Fighting Ronda Rousey At Catchweight of 140 lb.

While Cris “Cyborg” has made it absolutely clear that she has no interest in facing Ronda Rousey for her Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Championship, the Brazilian wrecking machine is open to meeting with “Rowdy” at a catchweight. Her logic being simple, she just can’t make 135 lb., as she told the host of The MMA Ariel Helwani, she is “160 lb. and is already really skinny,” but the former Women’s Featherweight Champion says she can make 140.

“I really wanna fight Ronda. She says bad things about me. I’ve never said bad things about my opponents. I want to do my best in the octagon, and if she says she wants to fight me, she can come to my weight or at 140. She started at 145, and she’s running to 135. She’s running to not fight me.”

While UFC president Dana White recently said that this is  match-up he is interested in seeing in the Strikeforce cage, the Chute Boxe product is currently serving a year-long suspension which will be up in December of this year. The suspension came after “Cyborg” obliterated Hiroko Yamanaka in just 16 seconds at Strikeforce: Melendez vs Masvidal, the Brazilian then saw herself stripped of the title after testing positive for stanozolol, an anabolic steroid.

Whether or not a match between the two consensus top ranked women on the planet remains to be seen, but it is certainly a big money fight for the UFC’s sister promotion.
