Although Rashad Evans has remained mum on his future plans since a unanimous decision loss to UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and former training partner Jon Jones at UFC 145, it’s beginning to look more and more like the former champion is middleweight bound. While “Sugar” has been non-commital in all of his statements, he recently took at look at two of the division’s best in UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and former title challenger Chael Sonnen on MMA Live.
“Chael will always be an interesting fight, but we work together a lot with Fuel TV. So, I don’t know if it will happen,” said the Blackzilian. “I think Chael might be going up. I’m never one to back down from a fight, though,” he said.
After recently calling out the divisional king, Rashad followed up by saying, “Ultimately, I’d like to fight Anderson Silva. Then, at the same time, I would have to establish myself in the weight class, so they say. So, I don’t know.” The Ultimate Fighter winner continued by jesting “ Dana White call me! Joe Silva call me!”
While it remains unclear as to what Evans’ next movie will be, fighting at 185 lb. is looking like a viable option for the former champion.

Sonnen vs. Evans would take shit-talking to the next level, hahaha.
there are so many options for him at middle weight right now i could see him fighting Boetsch, winner of bisping stann, clung le, Okami, or even Costas Phillopou
Just feed him to Silva!!!!!
He shouldn’t get silva maybe the greatest fighter ever coming off a loss and u have to remember Rashad only ever got the title at LHW by beating a guy(Forrest Griffin) that Silva made look silly.
Silva does that to most everyone, Kobe…
Whats with this comment I know he makes some people look like they dont belong in their with them, obviously thats why I said that he is maybe the greatest fighter ever. But I think most peopkle would agree that he really made Forrest Griffin look silly.
Evans vs. Weidman… Winner gets title shot.
That is if Weidman doesn’t get the next fight with Anderson Silva.
Well, if Silva is really going to be shelved til early ’13, a fight with Weidman makes a lot of sense. I know Weidman has been vocal about his next fight being for the title, but it may benefit a young fighter such as himself to stay active in the interim.
Was this the ‘grudge weight’ of 200 lbs sonnen tweeted about? Or was it vitor?
Dana White says he has no idea WTF Chael is talking about, that he “hasn’t even talked to Chael.”
i think that grudge fight will be with rampage
@Santos
Rampage is slated to fight Glover Teixeira @ UFC 153 in Brazil. Also, that’s Rampage’s last fight on his contract, not sure what he plans to do after that.
I guess it’s Forrest griffin
Now’s the time for Rashad…I’ve felt for a while that he could thrive at 185 (as could Machida) and inject new life in the division. A matchup with Boetsch would be good debut, a victory would put him in instant contention.
Or, there’s Jake Sheilds….
I absolutely agree, I’ve been wanting to see ‘Suga’ compete at 185 for awhile, I love all the matchup possibilities there for him. This is probably contrary to what most people think, but I believe Rashad could give Silva a run for his money.
Oh please make this happen!
I am not an Evan’s fan, he kills both, shut his mouth, Give him Silva. PPV money.
It’s too bad the next season of TUF has already been set as these 2 would be great as rival coaches.
Who knows, maybe have them each fight an opponent, and then if they both win, they coach against each other after this season of TUF?
Cheers
