When the Pepsi Center in Devner, Colorado played host to UFC 150 over the weekend, UFC President Dana White had little to be upset about with the quality of the evening’s fights, but unfortunately the same cannot be said about the evening’s live attendance. The event garnered only $650,000 in ticket sales, with 15,008 attendees.
“This was the worst gate, for a Pay Per-View, since 2007, without a doubt,” said the flustered UFC President. According to White, “It’s been a bad summer for this place with the Dark Knight (Rises) shootings and all the wildfires,” he continued, “ Once all that stuff was going down, we thought, ‘it’s not going to be a good gate here.”
While the numbers are disappointing, it would seem that it wasn’t all too unexpected from the Zuffa brass.

Don’t blame wildfires and inexplicable violence as reasons for a poor gate—blame a crappy card
We are tired of these Frankie Edgar sequels.
Wait until the PPV buys are out, that’s likely going to be brutal with Direct TV going out that night.
Put a card on in Winnipeg, MTS center would be sold out.
@Coach:
Dana White should follow your advice. The Canadian market still isn’t fully explored.
@DD:
I agree wholeheartedly about the lame excuses, but the card itself was action packed. Crmdte13 said it best, there’s quite a bit of Edgar fatigue at this point.
Some markets are stronger than others, but they’ve done shows there before. Plus, the per median icome in Colorado is among the nation’s highest.
Utimately there was not enough genuine star power to pack them in…that’s the real reason UFC 150 fell short.
We have a hugh MMA following here, one of the best attended venues, If we don’t get named for an event ahead of Minnapolis, Denver, Portland, Calgary, We still have Joe Doesksen.
Frankie Edgar cannot carry a card. He fights too safe. Stop outpointing guys and become a finisher and I’ll start buying your fights.
Amazed to hear Lauzon has finished all 22 of his wins. Thats the type of fighter I’ll pay to watch.
@EDN you are spot on about Lauzon, his last tilt was incredible…after the winners of Henderson/Diaz and Cerrone/Pettis face off he really deserves title consideration.
IMO I think it has to do more with too many shows/ppv back to back to back…
Sh*t I love me some good MMA but too many shows, one after the other.
People aren’t as much Edgar fatigued as they are Edgar rematch fatigued in my opinion. Everyone lover Edgar…except the negative people on here which is what you expect when people come to voice their displeasures. Imo the problem with this card was partially no megastars (and no Ben Henderson is not one either, so let’s stop blaming only Edgar) and the fact that there wasn’t one single lhw or hw fight on this card AND definitely it.was contributed to by the other factors Dana mentioned. The media really does.affect what people do as their sole.focus is to keep people indoors watching the news and not out enjoying town. And a devastating mass shooting and some.wildfires being.reported on ad finitum for a few.weeks is bound to affect any local live events numbers.
