After a seven-year absence from the octagon, Jay Hieron returns to the UFC to step in for the convalescent Josh Koscheck and face Jake Ellenberger in the UFC 151 co-main event.
Hieron (23-5) returns with a unanimous decision win over Ellenberger (27-6) in the IFL back in 2006, which “The Juggernaut” looks to avenge. Since his last promotional bout, Hieron has amassed a sizable (16-3) record, which includes wins over the likes Rick Hawn, Brent Weedman, Joe Riggs, Jesse Taylor, Jason High, and the aforementioned “Juggernaut”.
UFC 151 takes place September 1 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and is anchored by Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones taking on Former PRIDE and Strikeforce Champion Dan Henderson.

I don’t love it, but I suppose it’s not really that bad of an option when you consider 3 weeks notice. Jay is game, but I predict first round ko for ellenberger.
Ok I can live with that. I would have preferred Siyar Bahadurzada taking on Jake. But Hieron has earned his way back into the UFC with his recent record. And a “grudge match” should generate some interest.
if I remember correctly, the UFC owns IFL’s video library as well, so maybe they can run some on the pre-fight shows.
Glad to see Jay back in the big show, unfortunately I don’t like his chances.
