Superior Challenge 8, which is set for the Malmö Arena in Sweden on October 6, has seen a headlining bout between UFC veterans added to the bill as Karo Parisyan is now slated to face David Bielkheden on his home turf.
Parisyan (20-9) was once considered one of the foremost 170 lb. fighters on the planet, even earning a UFC title shot before being forced out of a bout with then Champion Matt Hughes due to injury. “The Heat’s” career never fully recovered, after a struggle with pain killer abuse and a history of panic attacks, the Armenian born judoka was booted from the promotion. After losing via early knockout to Dennis Hallman in his UFC return bout, Karo was immediately released for a second time and has gone 1-3 since, most recently submitting to a guillotine from John Gunderson at ShoFight 20. Parisyan now looks to finally right the ship and get back to his winning ways.
Bielkheden (17-11) is also on 1-4 run, and looks to get back on the winning side of things by adding Parisyan’s name to his list of victories. The Swede 4-4 since his 2009 UFC release, most recently losing a unanimous decision to Cathal Pendred at Cage Warriors 47.
