First off for the ring lovers:

The ring has never worked in the US or for any real successful curent day promotion in Europe!
The cage holds the action better. Alows for wrestlers to use there takedowns and for submission guys to have more room and less ropes to get off a submission. How many times in the IFL did you see a guy in a position to go for a sub and he couldnt because of the ropes. The cage gives them ways to get out after a takedown. How many times in the IFL and Dreams are fights stopped and somehow they have to recreate the position in the middle. How many times is a GNP having to be stopped because a guys head is under the ropes. Refs outside the ring pushing body parts back in like in Japan is laughable. In the IFL fighters got hung up in the ropes in almost every fight.

The Ring doesnt work period and never has in the states. Japan yes why I dont know. Better question is how do you sit thru a whole crazy mma card and not once get excited? Things are just differant.

My question isnt why is it so big? But why the hell would you choose a ring knowing the past failures? Answer: Fedor wanted it, somehow his group has there fingers in the kitty. And Im sure this will hurt Affliction in the pocket in more ways then one.

Affliction will never be a major threat with ramp entrances (gay) and a ring never. Yes they may pay fighters a boat load, but they wont make money so it will just prove the point you cant overpay just because fighters want it.

M3,
Tape UFC and go to a sports bar for Affliction. I don't like the program myself(business reasons) but don't base your opinion only on the ring especially if you like some of these fighters. Anything can happen with ring(Even fall out and crack your head open). I feel the fight favors the underdogs and the backpunchers scrambling away which means long boring fights as compared to say the WEC where there is basicly enough room to grab each other.I will admit there could be some drama here for more than 1 underdog which means a potential fight of the year. Something to consider.

a roped ring is still very mma lots of orgs use the ring all over the world just the ufc made the cage and as much as the cage rocks, i like the ring it was great in pride but you need prides/ Dreams rules to make that size ring work for the fighters. but the bigger ring will work alot better for this and usa rules of mma making the fights not slower but probably the same pace as we see in the cage. but the to like the ring you probably had to of watched mma for the last 10 years to really like it. but its not a bad thing.

Thanks for helping me decide not to order Affliction.
I won't watch any fights inside a roped ring. I'm sorry,
but that's just not real MMA. At least EliteXC uses a cage.

One of the biggest dangers with the ring size is running over the PPV time.
