UFC on FX 5 continues to take shape with a trio of bouts as welterweights Josh Neer and Justin Edwards, Lightweights Carlo Prater and Marcus LeVesseur, and flyweights Darren Uyenoyama and Louis Gaudinot are all scheduled to meet on October 5 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Neer (33-11-1) most recently saw a six-fight win-streak snapped by Mike Pyle at UFC on FX 3. Prior to that loss, the veteran’s most recent UFC run saw him go on to stop Keith Wisniewski and Duane Ludwig. TUF 13 veteran Justin Edwards (7-2), who has not competed since November of last year, is on a 1-2 run inside the octagon, with losses to Clay Harvison and John Maguire split with a victory over Jorge Lopez.
Prater (30-11), a WEC veteran, has had a less than stellar run inside the Octagon, starting in January when was blitzed by Erick Silva only to have the bout ruled a DQ in his favor. The Brazilian then lost a unanimous decision T.J. Grant in May. LeVesseur (21-6) made his UFC debut in May, falling victim to Cody McKenzie’s trademark guillotine. The loss snapped a three-fight win-streak for the Minnesotan
Uyenoyama (7-3) comes into the cage on a two-fight win-streak, making the move down to flyweight after a successful UFC debut against Japanese legend “Kid” Yamamoto. Gaudinot (6-2) returns to the cage after upsetting John Lineker in his UFC flyweight debut, choking the Brazilian unconscious with a second-round guillotine.
