It would seem the inroads Bellator has made in the Russian market, signing various talent from the country, has paid off for the promotion. It was announced today that Bellator has inked a deal with Russia’s leading sports network, Russia 2 (R2), putting the promotion in over 83 million homes starting September 28.
The deal comes as the largest MMA television deal in Russia to date. Bellator is home to several native talent, including middleweight standout and two-time tournament champion Alexander Shlemenko, Andrey Koreshkov, Vitaly Minakov, Vyacheslav Vasilevsky and undefeated lightweight Alexander Sarnavskiy, who now gain a level of exposure in their homeland that has yet to be seen in the Russian MMA community due to the promotion’s signing with the Moscow-based platform.
