Ultimate Fighter winner and flyweight standout John Dodson has been pegged to welcome submission ace Jussier Da Silva to the promotion as the two meet at UFC on FX 5. The event takes place October 5 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Dodson (13-5) enters the bout on the strength of two UFC wins. After knocking out T.J. Dillashaw in the first round if their December meeting to become the Ultimate Fighter for season 14 at bantamweight, “The Magician” returned to his natural weight class and took a unanimous decision victory over Tim Elliot this passed May at UFC on Fox 3. The Jackson’s MMA product now looks to continue his trek toward Zuffa gold by taking out the former consenus top flweight on the planet in Jussier “Formiga”.
Da Silva (14-1) currently rides a five-fight win-streak since his sole career loss at the hands of divisional standout Ian McCall in February of last year. “Formiga”, the promotion’s latest 125 lb. acquisition, has finished four of his last five opponents by submission, with the sole exception being former Shooto champion Mamoru Yamaguchi. The Nova Uniao product looks to cement his place amongst the division’s elite, and prove that he may still very well be the best flyweight in the sport.

Nice! I was wondering who they would match Da Silva up with, I like Dodson and this should be a good test for both guys. I could see the winner getting a #1 contender fight after this.
I see this fight as being a #1 contender match up with the winner getting a title shot against Benavidez/Johnson. Both these guys are right near the top of the Flyweight Ranks.
I was thinking that the winner might get the next shot too.
Give the winner Ian McCall I don’t think he has a match set now.
currently out with injury
HELL YEA THE MAGICIAN IS BACK! I love this kid. great flyweight fight.
What no need to grasp for straws and try to force next contender for fw? ;)
You can’t submit what you can’t take down. Love Dodson.
