Frank Trigg vs. Makoto Takimoto Booked For Sengoku 4
Middleweights Frank Trigg (16-6) and Makoto Takimoto (4-4) will clash on August 24th at World Victory Road’s Sengoku 4 according to MMAJunkie.com.
Trigg signed a three-fight, non-exclusive contract with the promotion last week.
After compiling a 10-1 record in various promotions between 1997 and 2002, Trigg came to the UFC in 2003, losing his debut bout against welterweight champion Matt Hughes. Following back-to-back UFC wins over Dennis Hallman and Renato Verissimo, Trigg was defeated in back-to-back bouts by Matt Hughes and Georges St. Pierre.
The losses sent Trigg out of the UFC and into Rumble on the Rock, where he defeated Ronald Jhun and lost to Carlos Condit. He next went to Icon Sport in late-2006 where he defeated Jason “Mayhem†Miller to capture the promotion’s middleweight title. At PRIDE 33 in early-2007 Trigg defeated Misaki via unanimous decision. In March 2007 Trigg dropped the Icon Sport middleweight title to Robbie Lawler but bounced back in December at an HDNet Fights event with a first-round submission victory over Edwin Dewees.
Takimoto, a PRIDE veteran, won a gold medal in judo at the 2000 Olympics. After going 3-3 in PRIDE between 2004 and 2007, Takimoto scored a major split decision upset of Murilo Bustamante at Yarennoka New Years Eve 2007. He was unable to follow up the win, however, losing to Evangelista Santos at Sengoku 1 in March. Takimoto has won two of his last three bouts.
Sengoku 4 takes place on August 24th at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan

Should be cruise control for Trigg…
I guess when you say that Trigg finished Mayhem Miller and GSP couldn’t kind of says something about the guy…right?
war trigg!…he is still a great fighter. you guys make it sound like he is some bad fighter …..he is still such a great fighter he is a top ten middleweight in my opinion
He’s not bad this just looks like a showcase which he has earned.I like the guy even if he dropped 2 to Hughes.
me too but the hughes has been fighting since he left militech i would trigg would beat hughes now and serra i think can beat hughes now hes just not on the same level as he was when he was in iowa…please go back matt!
Rydawg,
are you saying that Trigg beat GSP somewhere? Is that a fight that I ever heard of because you made it up or did I miss something big?
rutdog,
Rydawg is talking about a comparison between GSP and Trigg based on two different fights involving Miller.GSP decisioned Mayhem at UFC 52? and Trigg didn’t have to go to the judges with mayhem at Icon. Of course there still is that matter of UFC 54.
rutdog,
No brother I was saying that GSP beat Jason Miller by Una. Decision and Trigg TKO’d Miller…GSP has already has beaten Trigg…I was trying to prove that Trigg is a very credible fighter that’s all…Sorry for the confusion
Thanks Dietrich I was a little late on the reply.
i just met trigg at the mma expo in toronto a while back, very nice approachable person, unlike shonie who said yes to a picture with me then pretended to be on his cell and walked away, at a meet and greet!
trigg has been splashing the commentating side of the sport I forget which network he is always on I think it was FSN but i could be wrong plus he is a pretty good coach and the guys he lost too are top notch WW so he has nothing to be ashamed of i hope he wins
he was the best announcer japans ever seen at one point, he commentated pride near the end. and joel exactly, hes lost to top notch fighters and beaten everybody else, im glad hes fighting again
Rydawg,
Happy to help…
