A UFC 150 middleweight match up between Rousimar Palhares and Yushin Okami will have to wait after Palhares suffered a knee injury. Team Jackson-Winklejohn product Buddy Roberts will fill in for the injured Palhares. MMAWeekly first reported the story and UFC officials have confirmed the change.
MMAWeekly has also revealed that Palhares will likely need surgery on the damaged knee. Palhares had just recently released a video sending his heartfelt condolences to the victims of the Aurora, Colorado shootings before being injured.
Palhares’s replacement will be Buddy Roberts, who is coming off a successful UFC debut at UFC on Fox 3 against Caio Magalhaes. Roberts will carry a six-fight win-streak into his bout with Okami. Okami is looking to bounce back after a pair of losses to Anderson Silva and Tm Boestch. The two-fight skid is the worst of Okami’s ten years in MMA.
UFC 150 takes place August 11 live from Denver, Colorado. The card will be anchored by a lightweight championship rematch between champion Ben Henderson and former champion Frankie Edgar.
