With Ian McCall falling out of his UFC on Fox 4 flyweight bout with promotional debutant John Moraga, Ulysses Gomez has gotten the call to move up to the big show as he now makes his UFC debut against the MMA Lab product. Strangely enough, the bout was reported over the weekend and then shot down by Gomez, the flyweight tilt was finally confirmed today.
Gomez (9-2) comes into the bout on the strength of two consecutive submission victories over Drew Bittner and Maurice Senters in the Tachi Palace cage. A former flyweight champion, “Useless” dropped a unanimous decision to Darrel Montague in February of last year, his first loss since 2008.
Moraga (10-1) is riding a four-fight win-streak. The Arizona native most recently notched a unanimous decision victory over the aforementioned Maurice Senters last month. His sole career loss comes at the hands of UFC flyweight standout John Dodson back in 2010.
