UFC 153 Update: TUF Brazil Winners Added to Card, Opponents To Be Determined

On Wednesday, TUF: Brazil winners Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira (pictured) and Rony Jason both participated in the first official “UFC Day” in Rochina, Brazil. The two fighters were offered chances to return to Brazil for their first bouts since winning their respective TUF titles and both accepted.

The UFC announced the move earlier today.

Ferreira’s acceptance was conditional on his medical clearance for the October card but it appears that will not be a major hurdle. The middleweight prospect defeated Sergio Moraes in the middleweight final in an ugly but entertaining bout. One possible matchup will be his original UFC 147 opponent Daniel Sarafian. Sarafian was originally supposed to fight Ferreira at 147 before succumbing to an injury shortly before the event. If both fighters are healthy, the matchup is almost certain.

Rony Jason (aka Rony Mariano Bezerra) quickly jumped at the opportunity to fight in Brazil again and unlike his middleweight counterpart, injury is not an issue. With featherweight a growing division, there will be no shortage of competition for the TUF: Brazil champion.

UFC 153 will take place October 13 live from the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The event will be headlined by a featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and Erik Koch. A light heavyweight bout between Glover Teixeira and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is expected to co-headline the card.

UFC should have local matches around the world- ufc in italy poland china etc and then have ufc from among the local winners. It could be huge! Imagine romania vs uganda :-)

I think, that is kind of the way that TUF is heading, starting with Brazil, and I think they plan to continue to other countries to scout for talent while they promote mma( or the UFC)
