Lyoto Machida’s manager, Ed Soares, announced during a recent appearance on TAGG Radio that the light heavyweight contender will next fight in October against an opponent to-be-announced. During the appearance Soares also confirmed that Anderson Silva will indeed take on Yushin Okami next following his July 19th light heavyweight bout against James Irvin.- All of the fighters for today’s Cage Rage 27 event at the Wembley Arena in London successfully made weight yesterday, including UFC veteran Phil Baroni, who weighed in at 169.7 pounds in advance of his welterweight debut against Scott Jansen.
- Jess Liaudin and David Bielkheden will both drop from welterweight to lightweight and will square off in a 155-pound bout at UFC 89 on October 19th in Birmingham, England.
- UFC welterweight Mike Swick has undergone surgery on his elbow but expects to return to the cage before the end of 2008.
- The Ultimate Fighter 4 cast member Jeremy Jackson has been arrested and charged with seven felonies including two felony rape charges.
- The Ultimate Fighter 7 cast member Matt Brown will likely take on Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 88 on September 6th in Atlanta. Official bout agreements for the fight will reportedly be finalized this week.
- Though still “very involved with ProElite,” Gary Shaw will no longer be “front and center” for EliteXC and will instead serve in a consulting role with the MMA promotion.

ya lets go machida you win this and the titles yours definitly!…..I hope he fights jardine or wanderlai so he can prove he can beat a top 10 guy…..but man jeremy jackson sure is desprite…I can believe he rapped someone what a fag!
Show Gary the door!
I hope Machida fights Wand, he won’t be able to keep him at arms length for 3 rounds.
I see all the same faces are fighting in the uk, Liaudin, Kelly, Taylor, Bisping, Alves, Davies…………come on Dana, gives us a little variation on these shores, please.
What’s the betting, that the week after another sub-standard card in the uk, ufc 90 will be stacked ??
Anderson against Okami might be interesting, especially if Anderson loses that pointless fight against the Sandman.
Jeremy Jackson……WOW! He is a “REAL” criminal. Moron! I hate watching people throw away great opportunities. He deserves all the bad things this world can offer in return for his actions.
Gary Shaw must have taken enough verbal abuse from MMA fans for now. Elite has been thrashed for Shaw’s every move. This is all a trick. He is still in control, there is just going to be a new face trying to fool us.
In order to show Gary Shaw the door, he would have to first fit through it.
Shaw is a disgusting fatass.
no does the title belong to machida. he has not beateb one top 5 or even top 10 guy other than tito who may not even fall into that catagory. plus the only thing tht machida did in that fight was run away and almost get caught at the end.
jermy jackson is an idiot he was on the show and he is now
Wand has said that he will be looking to fight around that time…. I hope it is Wand too… I just wonder how many of the Machida fans jump ship once he gets KOed.
machida is a great fighter but i didnt know he had any fans
haha haven’t you seen all of the love he has been getting all over the net?
Llyoto V Thiago would make most sense both undefeated, both in contention for a title shot.
I agree but for some reason I am not 100% sure that is what the UFC is thinking.
braveheart
wow thats a great match up and i didnt even think of it.props 2 u.i would love to see thiago get his hands on lyoto. im not to stoked to see wandi vs lyoto cuz if he keeps up his hoodini act that would ruin wandi’s fight of the night streek that has been going for a decade.i want rampage to fight forrest right away but if that dont happen i would luv to see wandi vs rampage 2. rampage has grown alot since then but the ax murder aint called that for nothing.
agreed on thiago machida, i dont think machida can keep him out a legslength away, hes too scrappy
rampage i think should get an immediate rematch with forrest cause it was a decision and screw decisions on title fights we want real action there. but chuck didnt get an immediate rematch with rampage when he was beaten and alot of people thought chuck should have gotten another second maybe two.
i just hope they dont match up rampage and machida. that would prove dana and joe silva are smoking bowls with rogan and bravo
chuck didnt deserve a shot right away due to losing twice to rampage and if you watch rampage knocked him out and brought him back with another shot wich happens alot if you wach closely.i watched it a 1000 times and chuck was out with a strike and then the next strike brought him back, thats why he was like what happened.plus in his first loss his corner thru in the towel, wow.i think joe silva is a ducshe bag and all the good fights he puts together are by polls or popular demand.rogan is a hella cool guy but theres a few times i caught him being a little bias and thats not proffesional.
I was just thinking that if lyoto did steel a belt or somthing that would give the tuf 8 cast members a champion training team and would be a first to have the hw,lhw,mw champs to train and learn from.cant give any excusses after training with that team and i feel sorry for the guys on mirs side.mir is a turd and if there was a thicker class up there i dont think hed be in the ufc 4 long.keep a look out 4 mir on affliction 5 along with all the other ufc toss outs.
wow confucius you shure lost your ability to be wise…….
i dont really understand everyone hating on everyother leagues. sure alot of the fighters arent in the ufc anymore, or act like goofballs before and after the fights but isnt htis just about watching good fights and enjoying/analyizing mma? the more organizations there are with more events means more fights we get to watch and thats awesome, it doesnt have to just be ufc to be good even though they do have the best fighters in world in there roster, any event is a good event. as long as someone gets knocked out!
Some of these idiots just like being on the UFC bandwagon because it is by far the most mainstream. So when they dont know about anything else and just go with whats popular they defend what they do to know to no end and sound dumb to all the people who do know what they are talking about. 5, top ten heavyweights on one card and for some reason they are UFC tossouts, just a perfect example of someone not knowing what they are talking about.
well said thank you, but the phenom moving down to 185?! i hope he moves like he did back in the day when he knocked out wandy
ok im kind of new to these forums but i really enjoy mma and i have every pride on dvd, every ufc on dvd or vhs. here’s my quick takes slash responses:
lyoto is a stud. no top ten opponents? definitive wins over killers in sokoudjou and a rare injury free tito, both of whom he outwrestled; he won a clear decision over a conditioned bj, controlling him all fight, not getting pounded until penn gasses like bjs other losses; he has a lightning fast knockout over rich franklin that made me seriously concerned for ace’s health; he trains everyday with anderson silva… if lyoto were to get knocked out, or even just lose, that doesn’t take anything away from his list of victims, which is impressive. i expect he’d decision wanderlei, knockout thiago silva, probably torch jardine, embarrass forrest… the only light heavyweights i think could fight him intelligently enough to win would be chuck, and randy in his LHW days. it would be nice to see him against a pace pusher like rashad, houston alexander, sandman, but lyoto would pick them apart.
that guy is right that ignorant people should open up to all organizations. if for no other reason than to keep the ufc honest, not just growing propaganda fighters on tv and then making them fight for under ten grand.
forrest vs rampage
leg kicks hurt. i know, and if rampage somehow didn’t know, now he does. even though rampage landed the more powerful strikes, forrest definitely won and anyone who is complaining about the decision must have given rampage 9 points in round 2, which is insane. round 2 was one of the most dominant rounds I’ve ever seen. for rampage to overcome that round and win a decision, he would have to win all four other rounds. i think only 2 of the judges scored round two a 10-8, but i believe the other judge must have been getting a beer. i am biased towards rampage, biased against forrest, and i lost money on it so if i can admit the decision was good, i think it was.
go huerta! please kill kenflo.

i know plenty about other promotions. baby face and pedro havent competed in awhile and great fighters fight.im a fan of arlovski and wish he was in the ufc cuz i would like to see him and big nog fight.tim is a retard and if he didnt have size hed be screwed.fedor might be the best p4p fighter in the world but he likes to fight in these retarded circus fights and thats a waste.
vitor hasent fought anyone great in how many years?you dumb asses are going off what they used to be not what they are.
are you an adult? is this where we discuss mma or argue whos a douche bag and whos a dumbass, have some respect new age and quit acting like a teenager
am i not disscussing mma?piss off
I guess being a cagefighter could’nt even get Jeremy Jackson some ass…in fact wasn’t trying to get ass the reason why he got kicked off the show? 7 felonies…damn that’s almost as many wins he has haha what a jerkoff.
I think Lyoto should change his fight name. It should now be Lyoto “my matches Drag-on” Machida!
Lord Mark: nice…
How many people here are going to ignore Affliction’s Banned event for the UFC’s thrown together but free Fight Night?
few other things:
Silva v. Okami ??? Really, has it come to this? Okami couldn’t beat Franklin on his feet but gets a title shot? New blood please.
Jeremy Jackson… no surprises there. But, he didn’t get a second chance and Jesse “JT Money” Taylor is? WTF?!? JT Dummy doesn’t seem good enough for the UFC to compromise it’s look out for number 1 principles or am i missing something?
Shouldn’t Dana be more willing to make concessions with Fedor or better yet, Randy, than JT?
