After much consternation over Chael Sonnen’s UFC 148 stoppage loss to Anderson Silva, the outspoken middleweight challenger broke his silence on the issue of the controversial knee strike at last night’s UFC on Fuel TV 4 weigh-ins. The man from the mean streets of West Linn also spoke out about a variety of other issues, including his Coach Scott McQuarry’s plans on appealing to the UFC for a rematch, reports of a pending retirement from MMA, and rumors of a potential move to the WWE.

Video not available in Canada…well that’s a drag.
I still have no idea why Fuel does that, especially since the UFC considers Canada the new Mecca of MMA. It’s ridiculous. All is not lost though, here’s an alternate link.

I’ll add it to the post as well.
@jessedenis
I just want to thank you for putting that other link on. I’m from Canada too, so I wasn’t able to watch the original FUEL TV video’s that got posted. In the end I was, thanks to you. Much obliged! :-)
tell me all about it man, the first 2 comment makers cant watch because were from canada
I added the alt link to the post for you guys so it’s more easily accesible and don’t have to go through the comments to find it. It’s right under the video. We’re required to post the Official content, so it really is unfortunate for our readers in Canada. To try and fix that, I’ll try to remember to post an alt whenever we post content from Fuel, but I may forget from time to time.
I can’t see the video either. But to sum up what I’ve read elsewhere Sonnen will not contest the knee and currently is not planning on retiring.
did the alternate link work?
Yeah Jesse it worked, just watched it.
Good on Chael, I like that after all the talk he seems genuine and we get a glimpse of the real Sonnen.
i like how he said that he wasn’t going to try to get it overturned but possible just “redid”
@Clown
If im not mistaken, the NSAC already denied the appeal.
yea they did. was just poking at him for what he said.
@Clown
Ah, me slow.
Thanks Jesse.
Regarding the title: I think you could’ve gone with “The Knee, the appeal, and the retirement schpeel”…it would have then rhymed the whole way ;-)
I think he’ll be back. The MW division is so thin at the top, he could easily find his way back in 3 fights or so IMO. By then Spider may have retired anyway… but regardless, I still think he has some good fights in him.
If Franklin is serious about making another run I’d def like to see him fight Chael first.
Sonnen vs Weidman next. If he can get pass Chael then he is for sure top five. But I would love to see Silva vs Belfort 2. I think Belfort will give Silva a hard fiht this time, and it would go nothing like the last one. Do I think Anderson still wins, yes.
Or….Silva vs Lombard! (if he can get through his UFC debut exciting)
At this point I don’t care who he is fighting, I just wanna see him fight again soon.
