Ken Shamrock vs. Shawn Tompkins XFA Fight In The Works
A bout between UFC veteran Ken Shamrock and Xtreme Couture trainer Shawn Tompkins is in the works for a future Xtreme Fighting Association event, according to MMATraining.com.
“I Just signed a 3 fight deal with XFA, which is a K-1 kickboxing promotion in Las Vegas,” Tompkins told MMA Training. “I’ll be doing my first fight September 26th. Between September, December and February. They are looking at my first fight being Ken Shamrock.”
Tompkins, who coached the Los Angeles Anacondas in the International Fight League (IFL), is 0-4 in his MMA career and has not fought since 2001.
Shamrock (26-13-2) has lost his last four straight bouts and six of his last seven. He was last in action in March, losing to Robert “Buzz” Berry via first-round knockout at Cage Rage 25.
The rules of XFA were described in a recent press release as “K-1 minus the tournament format. Fighters will use hand, foot, leg and knee strikes – essentially the stand-up portion of mixed martial arts (MMA).”

hopefully for ken its not on a monday cos he’ll miss his pension haha i hope he wins tho hes done alot for the sport if he gets beat then either quit or fight kimbo.
Its a good bout for Tompkins. Will the odds makers put down a line on the winner or the duration of the bout????
Hate to say it but Kimbo would totally kick Shamrock’s a$$ right now if they fought.
Agree with that Rydawg. I have never like Shamrock’s striking even after Paulson joined his camp or he joined Lion’s Den.

Very much agreed, Ken competing in K-1 style bouts is far worse than MMA, where he could at least utilize his wrestling. Why Ken, why?

I had the displeasure of watching Ken’s last fight and it was quite pathetic…he looked like garbage just terrible…I don’t know what the hell he is thinking.
KEN IS A GOOD GUY. HE IS A BIG PART OF WHY THE UFC IS THE WAY IT IS. HE NEED THE RESPECT HE DESERVES…

I’m all in agreement w/ you…I respect what he has done for MMA and it wasn’t too long ago that HE was the face of MMA but jeez w/ his last performance in cage rage it just looked like he lost all desire but I guess not…I wish the best for Ken and hope he KO’s whoever he fights so he can retire on a winning note.

I am sorry to inform you that your fight will not give you any “worthy” status should you be victorious. Your opponent is an old man who goes by the name Ken Shamrock. Ken is a legend and an absolute beast of the past. I am sure you have heard of him. However, due to his age he has become slightly senile as of late and it would be greatly appreciated if you could take it easy on his mushy brain. He really has gone through quite a bit over the last few years. You know damn well you are fighting Mr. Shamrock because he can draw. You better beat the f-n **** out of the legend. Seriously…..Mr. Tompkins! F HIM UP!
