UFC To Broadcast UFC 84 Opposite EliteXC Saturday Night Fights 2

In an effort to ensure that the UFC remains the only MMA game in town, the promotion has opted to counter yet another rival broadcast.
This time the victim is EliteXC-CBS Saturday Night Fights 2, which will air Saturday, July 26th on Showtime at 8pm and CBS at 9pm. Thanks to Dana White and Co. you can instead tune into Spike TV for a free re-broadcast of UFC 84 “Ill Will†which featured BJ Penn and Sean Sherk in a lightweight championship bout.
The UFC will also re-air UFC Fight Night 14 from July 19th featuring Anderson Silva vs. James Irvin as well as UFC Unleashed and Ultimate Knockouts 5 prior to the UFC 84 re-air.

I’ve already scene this event so I will probably be watching either the EliteXcrap event or buying the Miguel Cota vs. Antonio Margarita fight.

this isn’t a move to get hardcore fans, it’s a move to get people who haven’t tuned in yet. that’s why elite is getting all the press, cuz they’re goin after people who know very little about the sport. those same people prolly haven’t seen ufc so this way, they can replay an old fight and basically recycle it for free to take away from elite. it’s a good move.

yzfox has a good point…elite xc is crap and they make mma look bad…I’ll have to watch the lawler fight though..I heard IFL is going down…there stock is worth 1 penny a share hahah…I hope the ufc picks up horodecki and schultz…that would really add to the lightweight division…

I wanna see Huerta and Schultz rematch…Huerta’s only loss came from Schultz and he dislocated his jaw!! Horodecki would have some tough matches in the ufc, it would be interesting….anybody read this article on dana white?? Hes like the hitler of mma invading all the other promotions and trying to take over the mma world haha

I get a sense of frustration from the writing staff at Dana’s attempt to stay on top. It’s business. I work for a major automotive company, when a competitor comes out with incentives, we generally move quickly to match or better those incentives. It’s free a market and the quality of product generally wins out in the end. That’s why I prefer the UFC right now. Nobody in my mind is a close second.
Yeah, Horodecki and schultz would be an awesome addition to the UFC lightweight division. Horodecki could be a future 155lb champ. That kid is only 20 years old and already destroying people. He has some of the best kicks I have ever seen.

I love MMA no matter who’s on UFC or Elite XC.But I’m not going to watch an event that I aready saw.So I will be tunning in to Elite XC.IT’S LIVE! Are you kidding me! NO WAY am I going to see a pre recorded event that I payed $44.95 to see on pay-per-view. **** you Dana that’s a slap in my face. Surprise me with a new event and I might reconsider.

that dana is a character. i believe he should do whatever he can to step all over these promotions. its like fighters do in the fight game they step on fighters to get to the top or remain on the top
I’m not too impressed by this move, dana doesn’t have to worry about anyone coming close to ufc, ufc is the biggest and best for a reason they bring the biggest best fighters from around for 1 show, elite xc is the wannabe they take the guys who think they’re the best and bring them for a big drama show, i watch for a skilled fight which only ufc is going to be able to bring
The UFC is on it’s way to becoming an also ran, Anyway I can TIVO the UFC fight and watch the EliteXC live, that way I can fast forward thru the UFC BS and watch only what I want.
Dana is a control freak. And can someone please tell the idiot that writes in capital letters he looks like a tool. Maybe he can go back and think of where he was when he first watched the UFC fights when he sees the replay. Elite is gonna get the press cuz it’s live, and UFC is going to bring more attention to that, due to compitition and make Elite get more money. As you can tell by the comments people want to see what’s live and recent, not what happened in the past that they can look up. Bad move.
LMAO i dont know if Dana knew this but all the UFC 84 matches are streamed live on the internet, UFC is playing with fire putting a free card on with Affliction, and putting this garbage on with Elite, because there not fighting with these organizations there fighting with us, fact is UFC is trying to control the entire sport and prevent smaller organizations from growing, and real mma fan isn’t gonna fall for this free spike BS this saturday and definatley wont bother watching a replay instead of a live card which hosts great fighters like jake sheilds, nick diaz, and robbie lawler
