A promising lightweight bout at UFC on Fox 4 has fallen by the wayside, again due to the injury epidemic the UFC is suffering from.
This time it’s Terry Etim (15-4) who has been forced to withdraw from an upcoming fight due to an undisclosed injury. Once considered a hot prospect, injury woes have kept Etim from fighting more than once a year since 2010. Although he’s won “Fight Night” bonuses in four of his last five outings, losses to Edson Barboza and Rafael Dos Anjos in two of his last three bouts have left the talented Brit nearly forgotten in the ever-changing lightweight landscape.
The man he was slated to face, Joe Lauzon (21-7) now awaits the announcement of a new opponent, which has yet to be determined. Lauzon most recently suffered a highlight reel knockout against former WEC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis at UFC 144. Prior to that loss, the Massachusetts native bounced Melvin Guillard from title contention in a mere 47 seconds at UFC 136.
