Affliction: Banned“Affliction Banned,” the greatest MMA show of all-time, will feature an all-star broadcast team for its July 19th pay-per-view event, featuring the WAMMA heavyweight championship fight between the most lethal MMA heavyweight of all-time, Russian M1 superstar legend Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko (27-1), and former UFC heavyweight champion Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia (24-4), live from Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Veteran television sports reporter and announcer, Jay Glazer, will handle blow-by-blow action while MMA fighter Frank Trigg serves as color analyst. Former MMA referee “Big” John McCarthy joins Glazer and Trigg as a ringside commentator and to conduct interviews. Legendary Michael Buffer of “Let’s Get Ready To Rumble” fame will be the ring announcer.

Glazer is a senior writer for FoxSports.com, sideline reporter for NFL on Fox since 2004, and was studio host with Trigg on FSN’s PRIDE Fighting Championship show.

Trigg is a veteran fighter of several MMA organizations, including UFC and PRIDE, as well as color commentator and co-host of MMAWeekly and TAGG radio shows.

McCarthy, who has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, refereed 535 fights during his 14 years as an MMA referee. He started refereeing in the UFC’s second show in 1994, retired this past December, and is recognized as an MMA ambassador all over the world.

Buffer, arguably the most recognizable ring announcer in the world, has announced many of boxing and wrestling’s greatest events for the past quarter-century.

i am sorry but bruce buffer is my nizzle lol and I am not so sure why affliction is making this like a lifestyles of the rich adn famous and they are getting away from what the organization is supposed to be about fighting how about they put on some great fights and then start talking the game up with their crew

When I used to watch some of the old Pride fights on FSN, I really was not a fan of Glazer with MMA. I guess he knows his stuff, but he’s gonna be the Goldberg of this show.

  • Dietrich says:

Glazer Trigg and Big John is a more professional announcement than “Hey kids buy our ppv because uh…Megadeath is playing…”

  • MJG says:

I can’t take anything away from the line-up for their first event but how can they hope to keep the momentum going for future shows? Surely they can’t have this type of card every time.

  • spett says:

I can’t understand why they hype up this show to obscurity and still talk about staying in the promotor business permanently. They’re digging their own grave.. no matter what they put on for Affliction 2 people are gonna think it’s lame. Not to talk about the 5th and 6th show.

  • jpm says:

For me the only card they can promote that would come close to matching this first show would be something like “Affliction 2 – Little People” where they could introduce the much discussed midgets & dwarfs into the octogan. And then in Afflication 3 they could mix it up a little where perhaps larger fighters like Tim Sylvia could take on up to 4 or 5 midgets at the same time

  • Jason N. says:

Have they announced yet how much the PPV is going to be?

  • Kris Karkoski says:

Yeah the recommended price is $39.95

  • KOuch says:

Funny how Big Dumb McCarthy is working ringside. I guess working for a rival promotion explains his jealous bitter attitude towards the UFC. Perhaps John has forgotten it was his decision to pursue other careers in MMA. Affliction is still a joke. Every move from MegaDeth to airing part of the event free. Affliction went about business the wrong way and now they are paying the price. My gut feeling is, Affliction will throw a free event because they are desperate little people in desperate need of attention.

  • D-Caff says:

how do they get off saying this is gonna b the greatest mma show of all time??? the main event on the card is big fat tim silvia!!! that guy hasnt put on a good fight sinse he got his @$$ handed 2 him by captain america!!!

  • rutdog says:

First off, I like jpm’s idea, but I think it should broadcast via live stream on youtube or somewhere. Second, anything other than the UFC has to promote their show as the biggest thing ever in MMA, just to get a little attention. I think that there will be quite a few buys on this first PPV, but it will be hard, if not impossible, to ever promote another card worth paying for. Unless, they can steal some really good fighters, picking up the scraps won’t do it.

  • Segablack says:

lol you dont thing any of these fighters are good! man you dont know your mma. try watch anything others the ufc and there is a whole world of fighters that are GREAT dont forget that some of these fighters walk away from the ufc table, because they did not want to fight there, not that they could not

  • Curtis says:

They are def putting some big names on the card! I am shocked at the amount of people that could care less about it.

  • Ilija says:

there signing tito and randy in a few months

as well as david loiseau and trank trigg possibly soon, lutter in a few months.

Belfort vs Tito 2 would be a good fight.

  • Rydawg says:

    Segablack & Curtis

I couldn’t agree more w/ your comments…I am suprised by all the UFC nazis here, I also like how some people are jumping BIG JOHN’S arse for working this event when they know damn well that they miss the guy reffing UFC fights! I do that’s for sure. Also why are people dwelling on how Affliction is going to keep putting quality cards together…my opinion is WHO CARES! that’s Affliction’s problem isn’t it? I could care less if they go under ’cause that’s just a better chance their fighters could get signed by the UFC see there is a bright side UFC nazis!!!

  • the gunslinger says:

buffer come on now affliction is getting ridiculous….there putting to much stuff in one thing its not gonna work…..i mean come on ….buffer/megadeath/donald trump its just to much its like frickin lifestyle of the rich and the famous in there…….whats next emeril lagasse and bobby flay as food venders and then there gonna have dancers probably to come on to much affliction

  • Segablack says:

wait wait you ma that there putting all this effort into one show for non other then the fan enjoyment, man your right that a bad idea…. how can you get mad at that!!!!

  • KOuch says:

    Sega,

Big John was a good ref no doubt. My problem is he became an opportunist prick with the rise of MMA. Good for him taking advantage but bad business move. He should have stayed a ref. It was less than two months ago he took shots at the UFC and it was obvious he had a new “employer.” It seemed at the time he was trying to hype up another promotion (Affliction). People don’t have a problem with the fighters…..it’s the way promotions present the fights. Elite XC presents dancers, midgets, rappers, and Gary Shaw to take away from the fighters making the events a circus. Affliction even managed to fool some of you, who I know….KNOW your MMA…..into thinking they are different and the next big thing. Affliction is presenting part of the show free in hopes to gain PPV buys at the last second. It’s karma for dirty business tactics with the UFC. Affliction also signed MegaDeth to hype up the show. That was a direct result of the UFC announcing Anderson Silva’s move to LHW….a bigger dose of karma. Affliction and Elite XC have some great fighters but the presentation and depth of talent are no where near comparison to the UFC. I love ALL MMA but yes, I am a UFC NAZI.

  • oh no frank trigg says:

Please lose Frank Trigg at the event..I speak proper English but don’t understand a word he’s saying.
If he punched as fast as he talks he would be world champion…
