Albuquerque’s Joby Sanchez has won a five fight contract with the XFC. The XFC recently held an open tryout in Springfield, Massachusetts with over 100 fighters competing for a slot in the promotion. XFC officials confirmed Sanchez’s win to MMAFrenzy earlier today.
Sanchez is currently undefeated as a professional fighter and comes from a wrestling background, finishing second in the state in 2009. Sanchez is one of the youngest fighters ever to sign with the promotion. No date has been set for the bantamweight’s XFC debut.
XFC President John Prisco spoke highly of the young fighter stating:
“If I was going to give him a nickname he’d go by Joby “The Total Package” Sanchez. He’s good looking, athletic, aggressive, and very well rounded in all disciplines. Add the fact that he’s only 20 years old and there is a tremendous upside to Sanchez joining the XFC,” said Prisco. The XFC tryouts were a day long grueling process that included: cardio, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, and sparring and Sanchez stood out from the very beginning. “I was focused on him from the start, there was something about him, the ‘it’ factor, and it showed throughout the tryouts.”
Do not forget the XFC will be on HDNet at 9PM ET on June 22 live from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
