Michael Bisping to Undergo Knee Surgery this Wednesday

Michael “The Count” Bisping was expected to undergo surgery today to repair a torn meniscus, but has had his operation date pushed back until Wednesday.

Bisping initially told FightersOnly that his surgery was scheduled today, but came out on Twitter to correct the news.

its been reported Im having surgery today but its been pushed back to wednesday. You can send your chocolates and flowers to @hbutc lol.

The 33-year-old indicated to FightersOnly that the tear was minor and would only keep him out of action for a matter of weeks. With meniscal tears, it is often difficult for a surgeon to determine the exact recovery time before scoping the knee to get a better view of the severity of the tear.

Recovery time can vary from a few weeks to a few months.

The injury forced Bisping out of a planned bout with Tim Boetsch which was set for UFC 149 this July 21 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was replaced in that fight by the debuting Hector Lombard, who himself lost an opponent, Brian Stann, to an injury.
