UFC 154: St-Pierre vs. Condit, Kampmann vs. Hendricks Possible for Montreal

The UFC is looking to top off the UFC 154 fight card with a pair of key welterweight bouts. First off, the UFC welterweight title will be rejoined when welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre faces off against interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit. Also, the number one contender spot will be up for grabs when Martin Kampmann faces off with Johny Hendricks. UFC President Dana White announced the news Friday night.

Condit won his shot by defeating Nick Diaz at UFC 143 for the interim belt. Condit chose to hold out for St-Pierre rather than defending the interim belt.

Hendricks claimed his spot in the title eliminator by defeating Josh Koschek at “UFC on Fox 3.” Kampmann claimed his spot when he defeated Jake Ellenberger at the TUF Live finale.

UFC 154 takes place November 17 in Montreal, Quebec. The headlining bout will be of course be dependent on the status of St-Pierre’s surgically repaired knee. The card is expected to take place at the Bell Centre.

So Condit didn’t really want to defend his interim, let’s just hope GSP is a OK that time so we can see them fight in Nov. and not 2013.

I wanna see condit take down the monster. He fought his smart fight to get the chance against Diaz, and now I think its gonna be natural born killer time..plus GSP has to fight such a mega fight coming off a huge lay off and injury. Prob goes to the opinion that champs who can’t fight within 6 months should vacate the belt outright, not just have a lame interim. But that’s another story.

the only thing that sucks is that once Condit wins, every known excuse will be made for GSP and why he lost due to the long layoff..

    IMO
