Nice!!
Griffin.
i am very impressed with Griffin, I thought the fight could have gone either way though
Thanks to Kris for keeping the site working great in the high traffic and to all the fighters for a great night of entertainment and laying in on the line.
Thanks Dietrich – We had an extremely high number of hits and I did my best to get the results out as quick as I could one way or another.
We’ll analyze the statistics from tonight and use them to be prepared even better for the next event.
Thanks everyone for stopping by!
Thanks Kris, excellent job with that, your results were the only that seemed to load.
Thank You!!
I’m so glad Griffin proved most wrong! What a fight! So many people were saying Rampage by KO within the first two rounds. Those leg kicks were brutal! Now on to Fitch with the upset over GSP…
O and one more thing…can we finally get Gurgel outta the UFC?? Please? Dude is so overrated!
last 2 fights were bad decisions….
Almeida won the 1st and 3rd rounds….but he didnt look impressive…neither did cote…
Forrest won round 2…but thats about it… rampage won round 1..and the last 3…were almost 10 10 rounds….but i dont think forrest did enough to win….im not saying rampage did either, but when its for the belt…i think you need to be decisive….and it wasnt…i may be the only one who thinks this, which is fine…. but its nice to see forrest a champ…maybe should think about cleaning up the language in post fight interview!!! can you say dana white jr?
that second round could have been a 10-8 though
and no way in hell is gsp getting beat by fitch
also no way should cote get a shot at the title he sucked tonight also I wish they showed the hill fight
Almeida did nothing in the 3rd round to warrant winning it. I agree with you on the title fight. I had it a draw and he should clean up his language. Makes the sport look bad
Jason N.
I totally agree man that fight was very close, but i rather see one more round but that’s life Forrest better like his belt i see him losing it in defend theres way better then Forrest out there he will lose the next fight!
would there be a rematch? the fight was too close to call
Cote and Griffin both won on my scorecard
Sasuke – Yes there will almost surely be a rematch. It could be an immediate rematch given how exciting the fight was but they may also have Griffin make his first title defense and have Rampage fight someone else for the top-contender status.
I’d love to see Griffin and Jackson fight again fight away but I think it makes the most sense to have them each fight another opponent before a potential rematch takes place.
Kris, what rounds did you have forrest winning. Obviously 10-8 in the second and the fifth.
I also had Cote 29-28
Kris execllent job …keep up the good work
The Cote fight was disappointing. I was expecting a lot more action from both of them. Cote won on my card too.
I know the championship fight was close in the beginning but I think Forrest took the last rounds.
He needs to chose his next opponent very carefully.
The problem with Forest is even though he bleeds easy the guy has a steel ribcage and a cement jaw. There is no quit in him. You HAVE to knock him out or submit him near unconcious to stop him. Add that to his ability to adapt and you have a long career in the UFC.
He will be beaten but I can’t see it coming easy for anyone.
I was glad to see Joe “daddy” Stevenson win..
I had round one and round three 10-9 Jackson and round two, four, and five 10-9 Griffin.
There were a lot of different ways it could have been scored with round two a possible 10-8 round for Forrest and some rounds going either way but based on everything I saw Forrest definitely won that fight, but it was very very close.
new age Confucius,
Please elaborate…I don’t see how Dana would benefit with a predetermined outcome here because there isn’t enough time for Forrest to train for Atlanta. The former champ defending in Tenn 1/09 makes sense the other way.
Forrest is a well rounded fighter.I figured that he would win by decision or losing by a knockout by rampage.rampage is alot better then that just can tell when someone underestimates a fighter they lose their focus.Given another night i think rampage will knock him out but i have to say i saw this coming in this bout.rampage will win the rematch no doubt about it.rampage gave too much space from a longer reach fighter shouldve kicked back or shoot and take him down.Mirror your opponet if nothing else works, could be confusing to a fighter.good night to win 800.00 on forrest will bet against him if he rematches next time by tko
I agree Cash, I was disappointed in both Cote and Almeida but I think Cote clearly won that one, though I agree with the 29-28 scoring.
He was much more aggressive the whole fight and though the fight lacked a lot of the action we were expecting I think he did enough to win the fight but played it safe knowing that all it takes is one mistake for a submission guy like Almeida to finish a fight.
LOL @ Confucius
Griffin one, I don’t think it was as close as some have intimated. Forest hurt Rampage bad with that nasty series in the 2nd. they traded for awhile then Forest stood with him to end the 4th and took it back to him in the final.
Was it close? Yes? Even Rampage admitted the loss. No one watching that fight could say rampage won.
“He jacked my leg up,†said Jackson. “I’m not that good at acting. He knew he hurt me.â€
“He whupped my ass,†said a gracious Jackson. “Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. He deserves it.â€
forest won that fight i cant beleive some people are trying to say otherwise forest won the secound 10-8 the third and the fifth i love it i told everyone quinton was overated and chuck would beat him next time its not like quinton was beating chuck last time he just got caught it happens if chuck would have been in there tonight quinton would not have made it out of the first
I love Rampage and Forest. They both have tremendous heart and are dedicated to making MMA a global sport of recognition. Rampage just didn’t do what Rampage does. That was a majr factor in the judging.
Anytime you have a fighter that is known for a certain ability and he does bring it all to the table AND gets it given in return you are gonna have a questioned outcome.
I missed the Koscheck fight, he beat Litle clean or was it Litle getting gassed and giving it away?
dude you no nothing about the sport if you think quinton won take up golf
punchdrunk koscheck pretty much dominated the fight
i think it will be chuck vs. forest in december and the co main event will be quinton overated jackson vs w.silva
man im not going to sit here and argue with you i wont discuss mma with people that no nothing about it this is the last thing im going to say even quinton said he got his ass beat
forrest did a lot of damaged with those visious leg kicks but rampage did more damage with his fist. i saw rampage winning 3 rnds to 2 but because of the 10-8 second rns i saw it a draw…liddell next for the title shot after he beats evans
almost anyone else would have gone down but forest some how can take the power punches and not fall asleep this is the difference between this fight and the chuck fight
yeah keep playing your viedo games and watching expert
Just ignore Confucius and his uneducated attacks on the well informed. Koscheck dominated? Wow. That surprises me, I can’t decide if he is good or lucky! lol
I think it’s interesting that Anderson Silva is entering 205 class. The way he punked Rich Franklin was startling. I’m very curious to see if he was light for 185 or if he was a natural for 185 and is having to bulk weight for 205.
enough of that guy how do yall see a fight with w.silva and quinton going
Rampage vs silva sounds great but i dont know if chuck should get a title shot after going 50/50 in his next 4 if he wins his next. I cant belive that forrest got a title shot after losing to jardine and barly beating shogun who took the fight with a super injury.
Thanks Dave, Md
yeah me to i would love to see anderson vs. chuck or w.silva
Guys – Stop with the insults and move on.
Quinton is gonna be pissed and he is going to want to make a very painful statement so one of two things will happen. He will go in there like The Incredible Hulk and will smash him or he will get sloppy trying and will be rear naked choked. I think it would take Forest AND Silva to actually hold a kimura or a triangle on him. The dude is strong as a mule.
that would be a great card if they made that happen in december
I picked Forrest but I don’t see a long title reign as there are too many gunslingers at 205. Evans Liddell Rampage Hendo Silva Franklin Stann(If Dana brought him over for unification and should Tim win the most Ambitious PPV ever Couture.Teacher vs Student old lion vs young Lion in a race to cash in.
I went to an mma clinic that big nog and anderson silva threw about 6 mons ago and after words him and his manager said that the spider could whoop rampage with ease. I would love to see the spider and rampage go toe to toe and let him back those words up
next upset is leben over bisping
would that be an upset? a focussed leben is a freaky thing. i cant wait for a rematch between him and silva or bisbing and silva at least
i agree raffy i think it will be a good fight but i see leben and bisping getting in a big exchange and chris knocking out bisping
1st off…I watched the fight..i dont think anything was rigged….but this just proves why you dont let fights go to the cards…I KNOW this to be true (not…i no this…
)
Rampage won atleast 3 rounds, if not 4….he obviously lost round 2….its questionable to say it was 10-8..sure those kicks were devistating.. but he then got on top…and tried submissions… but failed … and also just stalled on top.. so it say it was an easy 10-8 round…thats a little questionable…
I like Forrest…but not sure if he will win his 2nd fight….no matter who its against…i dont know why, just dont have faith in the guy…
As for KOS..he is my fav fighter….he is fun to watch…though tyson griffin is becoming a close #2 to being a fav of mine…great fighters…cant wait for Tyson Griffin vs BJ Penn and maybe KOS vs the winner of Alves/Sanchez…?
did you see the girl bj was with tonight? holy crap what a lucky man
Confucius, I have to agree with that. Chris leben frightens me, lol. Is Bisping overrated or is it just his style is boring and I don’t enjoy watching him fight?
Sanchez looked just nasty against that Italian guy. I’m not sure how they retooled him but wow..he looks like a new fighter.
Kendall Grove vs. Eva tanner was a waste of time. I’m betting Amir Sadollah could take out Evan Tanner. the last 3 fights I have seen have featured Taner in slow motion. Its sad really….
do you think bj would like her blood like he does his opponents?!?1 ha…easy set up
Kris, who do you see as a sleeper in 105 and 185 that wil break out in the next year? Anyone not on radar?
205 and 185 I meant…
FORREST!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!! He deserved it. Rampage in no way defended his title like a champion. There was definitely somethin’ up with his leg due to the kicks but aside from a few punches connecting, he never really controlled the fight. Rampage countered very well throughout the match….just not significant enough to do anything. I found it f’d up that fans booed Forrest but at the same time the crowd was full of drunk front runners. Congrats Forrest. I want to see Forrest and Liddell. Tuf 1 coach vs Tuf 1 winner.
forrest dominated round and in round 10-8 and also won round 4 putting rampage into a triangle and was able to avoid a slam by having a good defense
that would be great. two fan favs
Lytle looked badass with half his face bloody. I was amazed that fight was not stopped with all the controversey lately over early/late stoppages. Scott Smith got stopped for an eye gouge but Lytle got to continue loking like he was in a horror movie. Beautiful….I love this sport. F Kos…..I still hate him for pulling that hose BS on TUF 1. Good fighter…yes…..A$$HOLE…..even more so.
Who was the Australian guy from TUF 6? A buddy of mine said he is kicking butt..he has a crazy long name I just cant remember it..anyone have an update?
Punchdrunk,
Forrest did look better without a doubt! From the start. The knock down late in the first is the only time he didn’t. Rampage looked bad tonight. I really think something was wrong….I could be wron.
he seemed a litte off durring all interviews from yesterday before the weigh ins he said he was too weak to howl on camera
OH MAN!!! almost forgot. Congrats Cole!!! I hate Jorge Gargamel Gurgel. He’s just Rich Francklins removed conjoined twin fetus.
I wanna see a 3 on 3. Forest, Rampage, and Hendo vs Lidell, Couture and Dana White!!
LOL I think Tito and Shamrock are doomed tight fight each other the rest of their lives. UFC 627 92 year old Ortiz vs. 104 year old Shamrock. First ever UFC fight featuring submission by walker.
I LOVE IT!!! I CALLED THAT SIHT WEEKS AGO BABY!!! WAR FORREST!
Anyways, back to MMA!
Who does evryone think will be the next potential opponent for forrest?
1. Machida- did Forrest really say he didn’t want to fight Machida yet, that he would like to fight a few other guys first?
2. Chuck- if he destroys Rashad is that enough to move up for title contnetion?
3. A. Silva- if he crushes Irvin should he get a shot because he is the 185 lb. Champ?
Wow, i’m really surprised. Rampage looked a shell his bad self. I know he said his leg didn’t hinder him but I don’t agree. Fair play to Forrest though, he looked as good as he ever has. I thought it was a lot closer than the judges scorecards, I believe an arguement could be made for a Rampage win.
When I look at all the contenders for the LH belt I see them all beating Forrest, I predict the next time Forrest fights, he loses.
damn go forrest
i think he forrest will fight the winner of rashad and chuck and the loser of that fight will fight machida. Forrest has made the LWH division wide open
i dont like koscheck fights, everyone says how much his striking has improved but c mon its nothing special and your always going to go back to your roots, i wish Lytle could have scored a kock out in the last minute of the last round
jorge gurgel should go to the WEC and fight at 145 he’s not big enough for 155. He’s also massively overated he never uses his ‘incredible’ bjj skills he just stands there and gets punched
Great job Kris in keeping the site updated
Damn….hey did anyone remeber rampage saying he will bet his whole salary it won’t go to no decision. And his trainer jaunito saying he will retire lol. I wish could c what excuses both are saying now lol
good thing to come of this is now chuck liddell is not scared of getting pwned by rampage. He’s probably relieved that forrest won.
Forrest still should get Rampages purse, like Rampage said ” I guarntee our fight dont go to the judges I bet my purse on it” from Rampage
It was a good fight but Forrest looked better tonight, It may have had something to do with the 9 month lay off,
But never the less you have to hand it to Forrest he had a game plan and followed through with it
xtreme couture – randy comes up with excellent gameplans for all the fighters if they stick to it they always win exactly what forrest and tyson did last night
I don’t understand why the Koschek/Lytle fight wasn’t stopped. At one point Lytle was not intelligently defending himself & taking heavy punishment, the fact that it was allowed to continue makes fights like Vera/Werdum look even more farcical.
I don’t particularly like Kos, but I felt a little sorry for him, I felt toward the end of the fight he didn’t want throw punches as Lytle was such a bloody mess
im still in shock that forrest is the champ i gave him zero chance of winning that fight, the leg kick seems to be an underated force jardine beat chuck with it now forrest beats rampage with it,man im so happy for forrest,
i see hill got beat haven’t seen the fight so dont really no how it went but hill is way way way over rated, happy for miller that kid has skills, melvin is the man an handfull for any fighter,
Forrest controlled that fight.. He won. even Rampage knew it.. He said so after the fight.. Cotes fight was boring.. Cote doesnt deserve a title shot that would be a waste of Anderson Silvas time..
Bisping would have beaten everyone on that card last night
hands down jmp well put it one way i dont see cote or almeida being to much for the count that fight sucked ass!
i agree johnboy – forrest is a worthy champ beating rua and rampage! I hate to say it but i dont think he’l be a dominant champ like bj or georges st pierre.
I think hill should bulk up a bit and move up to 170 or 185. He looks so skinny at 155. I think he would be a force at 170
such a boring fight could have gone either way – would have liked to see almeida win tho
Your dead right, Bisping would make Cote/Almeida his b*tch
Did you see when the camera zoomed in on him, his shadow boxing was simply incredible the speed of those punches were unreal, unless you’ve a high definition television his fists were a blur !!
Bisping is the man – he’s a major contender at 185. Hardly anyone on this site likes him. Cant wait to see him make a fool out of leben.
Good lord….can I get on this site anymore without hearing about Bisping?? Jeez….If they had a interview with Fedor everyone would be like, Bisping the coolest guy in the world, that would be a good fight.
Anyway…One of the best fights I have seen in a long time. Rampage got robbed in my opinion….but thats the way it goes. If Forest wasnt Danas golden boy it would have gone the other way.
All the usual suspect will be moaning that we’ve turned a forum on ufc 86 into a discussion about Bisping.
I agree Pete90, he will make a fool out of Leben when he walks through him, and its just a matter of time before he makes a fool out of all those haters when he starts destroying fighters like Quarry, Marquardt, Cote, Franklin, Silva.
Fixxer
Ha ha, you called it. Bisping would beat Fedor too
goo jpm lol!!
Fixxer – it was a close fight, in my opinion i think forrest one, but again does that not come down to the scoring system??
Fixxer
I saw the Rampage/Griffin fight that way too. Rampage definately won round 1 and I thought rounds 3 & 4 were his also, sure those round were close but he landed some good shots without much coming the other way. The fact that one judge called it 49-46 was ridiculous.
well, not sure who said it, but the jackson/griffin fight seemed a little rigged to me…and this was perpetuated in my mind by the post fight ring interviews. and it wrote into a nice neat ‘WWE-esque’ storyline, drama included. no real standout fights. lytle wins for most blood spilled. that fight shoulda been stopped, even tough lytle swung until the end.
My pet hate with the scoring his who the agressor is. Its rediculous, someone that walks forward getting their ass beat by a counterpuncher still gets credit because he’s the agressor. The UFC really needs to come up with their own scoring system and stop copying bhte 10 must in boxing
correction to the above comment – ‘copying the 10 point must scoring system in boxing’
Yeah, u leave it in the hands of the judges thats what happens….but at least give it a split decision. That was not unaomous for any of them I dont think. And you guys know I have to give u a hard time about Bisping….it wouldnt be right if I didnt
. We will make a bet when he fights a real contender….i dont know what yet…but ill stew sumthing up haha
Its funny listening to all of you’ll say hat Jackson got robbed , when after the fight he said “HE GOT HIS ASS BEAT” . it does happen , he also said its a 50/50 chance on who wins when 2 fighters step in the ring
So everyone just face it Griffin won
i cant belive it either dave i had forrest winning that fight round 1 yeah rampage for the knock down but thats all he did in that round, round 2 was a 10-8 round rampage just layed there made no attempt to get up an forrest just beat on him.round 3 rampage but round 4-5 forrest which makes it 48-46 in forrest favour but people see every thing diffrent and im glad not everyone sees it the same otherwise there would be no point comeing on here ;}
JOHNBOY
I had it scored the same
i think forrest won – close fight
forrest won end of story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to close of a fight for a champion to lose his belt. Forrest looked good but Rampage was the one landing all the hard shots. Even with a 10-8 round for Forrest it should have still went to Rampage.,
I watched the fight very closely from the beginning to end. I like both fighters. Forrest always shows a lot of heart so i wouldn’t have been surprised if he’d ended up beating Rampage. In fact, coming into the fight I didn’t think Rampage would match up very well against Griffin. But Griffin did not win this fight. I scored the bout 49-46 in favor of Jackson, but you could argue many things. I wouldn’t have been too shocked if one of the judges had scored the fight 48-47 in favor of Rampage, but that is as close as it gets to Griffin winning this fight. Griffin put on a great show and created opportunities, but he didn’t outscore Jackson. I don’t see how ANY of the judges could’ve said with a clear conscience that Griffin won this fight. Some people believe a challenger must totally dominate a fight against a champ in order to take a belt. I disagree with that because there is a difference between dominating an entire fight and decisively winning a fight. All the challenger needs to do is decisively win the fight. However, Griffin did not even do that. I’m not saying that Griffin can’t decisively win if they fight again because this fight could’ve ended up going either way (and so can the rematch). But it’s a shame to see a champion decisively win a fight and still have his belt stripped from him. Unbelievable… These judges shouldn’t be allowed to judge another title fight.
I don’t see why Machida shouldn’t be the first challenger to Forrest’s title. I like both fighters a lot so hard for me side with any of them. Other than Rashad Evans (Who technically has a loss because of the point deduction Tito got) Machida is the only one undefeated at 205 and Shogun, Liddell, Wanderlei, and most recently Rampage have all had losses in the at least one or two of their most recent 3 fights. Machida is not “boring” just the way Forrest wasn’t tonight-he just won’t stand there and put his face out there for you to hit. I think a fight with Forrest would be a highly technical battle and test of heart of Machida. Everyone knows Forrest has heart.
What fight were you guys watching. In no way did Forest win that fight. His performance was impressive but not enough to take the title. Forest won round 2 and you can make an argument for him in the final round but Jackson clearly won the other 3. With the exception of the leg kick that really hurt Jackson he inflicted no further damage! Jackson hurt Forest several times and was the clear winner in just about every exchange they had. 10-8 in the second??? Did you guys miss the Koscheck-Lytle fight?? Not a single 10-8 round for Koscheck although he clearly punished and DOMINATED Lytle throughout the fight. Unfortunately, as great a sport as the UFC is, I think Griffin-Jacskon title fight is going to lead to the same problems professional boxing has right now. Win by knockout, or suffer the wrath of an unjust scoring system!
Anyone who thinks Jackson won that fight has no idea about MMA. If you haven’t practiced MMA yourself for a number of years, please don’t comment. Forrest did much more damage first off, he gave Jackson a lot of trouble in his left leg and the only thing Jackson did was open up Forrest’s scar tissue (which every opponent does to him). It doesn’t take much to open up cuts and it doesn’t do any damage either. What’s worse a cut on your face or an injury to your leg which severely hinders both your offensive and defensive abilities. Forrest also dominated the position game the entire time, he had Jackson in side-mount and mount for a long time where as Jackson couldn’t even get to half-guard.
Had this been a real fight with no rounds or time limit Forrest would have won because he would have kept Jackson mounted until he subbed or was TKO’d. Forrest was smart about not getting knocked out, which was the only thing Jackson could have done to Forrest. Had they continued to fight round after round Forrest would have eventually warn down Jackson and either subbed him or beat him into TKO.
spider over anyone in ufc, like fighting a panther in the jungle, too many obstacles
fawk mma
i say fight till someone DIES!
how you like them apples
I was at UFC 86, with a good view of the action, and myself and the 8 people around me all had Forrest Griffin winning a VERY close decision. I feel he definitely won that fight, even though I was worried that Rampage would win via the aforementioned “champion’s edge,” where a contender is expected to dominate the champ in order to win a decision. I don’t think that needs to be the case, he just needs to WIN the fight, and anyone who doubts that round 2 was 10-8 needed to see it live. I only mention these things because the judges are right there watching it live, while most of the people on here only see what the cameras show on PPV, and especially what highlights they show between rounds (which were mostly the only 3 punches Rampage landed in the whole fight that actually did any damage). A lot of the shots Rampage threw in the exchanges were also blocked or deflected by Griffin, which no one seems to have realized. I just figured I’d thrown in my two cents since I happened to be there to see it. Oh and for all the Mayhem Monkeys out there I was two rows behind Mayhem, and he definitely made the night interesting, like when he yelled to Lytle to “aim for [Koscheck's] stupid hair!” to which we all started cheering. Except for the few elbows that opened up (and worsened) that gash, he was basically just Josh “The Wet Blanket” Koscheck again… and he wondered why he got booed by the live crowd. And Cote/Almeida was just as boring live as it was on TV… Cote was too scared of the ground and Almeida seemed to gas fairly early.
