“Affliction Banned” on Closed Circuit TV Across The Street From UFC Fight Night 14
Dueling MMA events will be shown within walking distance of each other July 19 for fight fans in Las Vegas as Affliction Entertainment presents “Affliction Banned†on closed circuit television at the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino, directly across the street from where UFC’s Fight Night will be broadcast at the Palm Hotel and Casino.
The “Affliction Banned†pay-per-view event, featuring the WAMMA heavyweight championship fight between the most lethal MMA heavyweight of all-time, Russian M1 superstar legend Fedor “The Last Emperor†Emelianenko (27-1), and former UFC heavyweight champion Tim “The Maine-iac†Sylvia (24-4), will be broadcast live from Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Fans at the Gold Coast will watch more than four hours or world-class mixed-martial-arts action, starting at 5 PM/PT with a live one-hour telecast of “Affliction Live,†featuring Fedor’s brother, Aleksander “The Grim Reaper†Emelianenko (13-3) versus Paul “The Headhunter†Buentello (23-10), followed by the exclusive presentation of “Affliction Banned.â€
“Affliction Banned,†presented by Affliction Entertainment, arguably is the greatest MMA event ever, headlined by Fedor vs. Sylvia and powerfully supported by four other incredible bouts: former UFC® heavyweight title-holder Andrei “The Pitbull†Arlovski (12-5) faces IFL® titlist “Big†Ben Rothwell (29-5), Josh “The Baby Faced Assassin†Barnett (21-5) fights stateside for the first time in two years in a grudge match against the only opponent to ever knock him out — Brazilian strongman Pedro “The Rock†Rizzo (16-7); three-time All-American wrestler Mike Whitehead (20-5) battles Brazilian sensation Renato “Babalu†Sobral (29-7); 2000 Olympic Wrestling Silver Medalist and Oregon House of Representative candidate, Matt “The Law†Lindland (20-5), meets Brazilian favorite Fabio “Negao†Nascimento (8-3).

damn!!! affliction mean business, they always seem to counter the ufc
ok once they get this mma reunion of ex ufc stars together they will probably have a great show but then……when will there next show be and who will they fight in it?????
I think that they are trying to hard to keep up with UFC… Good thing Affliction has deep pockets, that might make them hang around for a while
Don’t really understand the relevance to this. Its still comes down to a personal choice of what to watch.
Affliction’s card is much better than the UFCs…..If I wasnt busy, I would definently watch Afflictions and Tivo UFC. I am looking foward to seeing Anderson take a shot from Irvin…Mark my words! Anderson loses his 205 debut.
If Affliction is focusing on “Super-Card” events, then they are not even competing w/ UFC. UFC doesn’t have those type of events anymore as they have so many PPVs. “Super-Cards” will always draw real MMA fans, if the line-ups are quality. To me, this looks like a great event, regardless of Tim Sylvia being in it. UFC events with one super-fight, MAYBE one or 2 mid-card type fight, and padded by a bunch of under-card type matches, ….z z z z z. If Affliction focuses on only promoting a few of these “Super-Card” events a year, they will have no problem putting together awesome matches in the future. If the UFC pulls them into their game of putting out 12+ sub-par events a year, then Affliction’s management team are morons.
ufc will still dominate because affliction arnt putting on regular shows
“….Affliction aren’t putting on regular shows.”
Exactly. So they are not really competing with UFC. They don’t need to put on regular shows if the event cards are comprised of mostly well-known fighters.
Yeah UFC will be better cause Afflication doesnt have a PPV every month … after this fight they will have used everyone on there roster so they will have to wait a few months and try again
Gold Coast Casino Thats a selling point?
wish we could view this in the uk
dana needs to eat his words and stop being so stuborn and accept the fact that the hw devision is pretty empty, he needs to get some of these affliction fighters back on board
Dana and Dream will pick from the dying Affliction tree…
i dont see how affliction can last, they dont have enough fighters. At the moment they have a bunch of heavyweights and a few others who are going to take 4-5 months before they can fight again. Where are affliction going to get fighters of a good calibur to fight in their future events?
Dana is a very smart business man , I do believe he knows what he is doing and I also think they will tear apart Affliction
Dave MD
Mate i totally agree, affliction has nothing but very deep pockets but c’mon the ufc have the fertitas – arnt they billionaires?
Pete
they are going to get the retired UFC fighters I would not be suprised to see affliction pay big money for TITO
Yeah you have a good point, but who else??
Retired UFC fighters will not pull in the crowds!
Elite XC and other organisations are just getting pushed aside.
Anyone is going to pay top dollar to Tito
the only fight that affliction has worth watching is Fedor/Silvia…the rest are just filler.
True story I just got an email from Gold Coast saying they had the best payouts now so there is a reason to go there…:)
Wow. I an really excited for this.. finally a CARD THAT REALLY ROCKS
Know though that Affliction put it’s show together first, then later Dana announced a free show also on July 19th, with Anderson Silva fighting the Sandman Irvin in a non title fight? Silva is going to get a favor out of that in the long run I’m sure… but I digress… Dana obviously feels at least a slight threat from Affliction. They also banned affliction clothing from sponsoring UFC fighters. Dana’s recent move does crack me up though. I’m DVR’ing the UFC show, and going to a sport bar to for the PPV!
Still believe one card fight will fall through….
The Gold Coast Casino is across the street of the Palms. I believe Afflication wants more people to watch their show then to watch the UFC fight. It might seem that Affliction wants people to watch their show at the Gold Coast for free that live in Vegas and have the UFC show their fight with an empty arena on tv.
If they want to have it at Gold Coast they need to throw in an O2 tank and a tetnus shot…
Seems you have been there also Dietrich. O2 tank maybe but not a tetnus shot. LOL. More of a power scooter crowd.
Bubba,
LOL Power Scooters….
That’s definitely the power scooter casino..
I live really close to Anaheim im going to to i got tickets YAY or wat… the events in the ufc bore me zzzzz.. go Affliction!
UFC is nothing without its fighters.. who gives a **** about the ufc, as long as good fights happen.. am i right or am i right
