Report: UFC 89 “Bisping vs. Leben” To Be Televised On Spike TV
UFC 89 “Bisping vs. Leben”, which takes place on October 18th at The NIA in Birmingham, England, will be televised on Spike TV according to Dave Meltzer at F4WOnline.com.
The UFC has not-yet-released broadcast details for the event.
English native Michael Bisping will clash with fellow-middleweight contender Chris Leben in the main event of UFC 89. Welterweight contenders Diego Sanchez and Thiago Alves are set to square off in the co-main event. Three of the four main fighters from the card, Bisping, Leben, and Sanchez, appeared on previous seasons of The Ultimate Fighter making the liklihood of the event airing on Spike TV, whose events typically prominently feature fighters from the reality series, that much greater.
The report also indicated that the UFC will likely hold a pay-per-view event, likely titled UFC 90, one week later on October 25th.

It all comes down to selling tickets. So Bisping-Leben will be main event.
Even at Bedlam, the Bisping fight was announced as “co-main event” which is a cop-out if you ask me. But main events should be exciting, which both of these fights are.

Great card so far. I’m glad Leben finally gets to in a main event (other than the one in which Silva KO’d him.) Alves vs Sanchez is a great fight, a good test for both of them. I would say Alves shouldn’t have to fight again until he fights the winner of GSP/Fitch, but after not making weight for the Hughes fight, this seems fair.

I agree. It seems fair to me too. He is a pro athlete and gets paid to make weight and fight. Sure he could have been next for a shot, but Diego will be no slouch and it will be a good fight.

yeah, i’m definately going. i’ve been to all the uk events and the atmospheres been spot on each time. Manchester & Newcatle are good events to go to as the arenas are in the town centres so you can hit the pubs/clubs straight after, you can be like watching a bloodbath in the octogan and then 5 minutes laters be chatting up some dirty slapper at the bar, that is if you’ve got any money left after spending £250 on a ticket £4 a pint for the day.
The crowds a bit a footy game with no away fans, you get the odd pr*ck shouting things like, f*ckin hit him or f*ckin kick him or f*ckin submit him but by enlarge its a good day, not to be missed

That’s a good one. Maybe Kalib Starnes and Kimbo will sign with Affliction in the mean time to help draw. On top of that Affliction can sign Coolio or Clay Aiken to preform……hell maybe even a duo.

There’s a problem with that Kouch, Affliction only signs good, tough fighters, while UFC HW and MW division is a bunch of guys that will never hold a belt against real compitition. The Affliction guys may not have the best records and a couple may be on the downside of there careers, but they will still fight there butts off unlike like former UFC fighter Kalib Starnes and a number of guys currently under UFC and WEC contracts. Maybe you should bring up guys that fight outside the UFC, but I doubt you know any. Tank Abbott can beat the hacks in the UFC HW group right now. Get off the band wagon and realize there’s good fighters outside the UFC. I’m gonna laugh in everyones faces when Bisping wins AGAIN, Hendo loses, and when Karo eventually beats the hell out off Diaz. Wait maybe I should’ve written this in all caps like that other idiot.

Only thing with Bedlam was I got annoyed with the mexican wave. You always know that the moment that prick in front of you stands up and waves his hands around is the time the KO happens!
We had some guys shouting behind us “Go on, you can do it, rip his fuc*king head off!”. Which was funny the first 6 times, but after that got damn annoying.

i could see bisping getting tagged early if he rushs in…..but i could see him dodging lebens haymakers and nailing him with silva like shots and winning also……..but i think it will go into round 3 with bisping winning on all the score cards then late in the third lebens knocks him out just like his tery martin fight

I like both fighters but I am predicting Bisping as winner. Bisping looks good at 185. This is the weight class he should’ve been in the whole time. It is going to be a good event.
