Cote in For Franklin Against Le at UFC 148

With Rich Franklin being moved to UFC 147 to rematch Wanderlei Silva, one-time title challenger Patrick Cote has stepped in to fill the void left by “Ace’s” absence as he steps into face Cung Le at UFC 148.

“The Predator” returns to the UFC on a four-fight win-streak, which includes the likes of Kalib Starnes, Todd Brown, Crafton Wallace, and Gustavo Hachado. Cote’s two most recent performances came via stoppages within the first round. The heavy-handed Canadian has been absent from the octagon since 2010, where he was cut after an unfortunate injury coupled a string of losses.

Le, the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion, looks for his first promotional win. After a strong showing in the first round against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 139, the San Jose native was demolished by a barrage of knees from the MMA legend in the second stanza.

UFC 148 will take place at the MGM Grand Gardens Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 7. The card is headlined by the highly anticipated rematch of Anderson Silva and the only man to make hi look mortal in recent memory, Chael Sonnen.

Cote’s 4 fight win streak does not include Belcher, he actually lost to Belcher prior to his win streak

I am excited to see him back, I like this match up as well

“Only man to make look mortal”? Oh yeah, and Chael was totally normal in that fight. No. Chael was juiced up on testosterone. Chael and his testosterone are gonna have another shot.

Juice up Chael…..You just gotta come in under the new special limit that we have for you.

Maybe the ufc should be the uTc. Testosterone is slowly becoming more and more readily accepted by the (American) fans then its ok.

Maybe the olympics and all other pro sports should follow the ufc. Then Zuffa and the NSAC wouldn’t look so ridiculous day in and day out now.

Said it before and say it again.. WHAT A JOKE!

Oh, man. I would have preferred to see Cote / Silva. Who’s clamoring for a Franklin / Silva rematch? As much as I am interested in the Cote / Le match-up, I was really liking the Franklin / Le match-up.

Levi I don’t believe you even know what your talking about..but I do want you to stay away from sharp objects when Sonnen rematches spider.

Horrendous matchmaking. Ace/le was gonna at least be fun. If anything I’d wanna see the le/silva rematch. Two terrible replacement fights.

I’m happy to see Cote/Le…should be a great fight.Go Cote.

I hope Le destroys Cote! Cote is overated!

I don’t think he is “rated” at all, he used to be but coming back from surgery, winning 4 fights and earning another shot …that’s how it’s done. He’s a banger too…fun style but some prefer the ground game.

      • Exactly. Plus he took every hard shot that A. Silva threw at him in that title fight and kept coming. Some people called it a bad fight at the time, but Cote wasn’t the pushover people said he was. His knee giving out really tarnishes what was a solid, if rather lopsided, fight.

I guess it should be a fun fight since cote keeps it standing…what can I say…Joe silva wins again… Lol
