With his first-round knockout victory of Duane “Bang” Ludwig over the weekend, Dan Hardy saved his job with the UFC – he may also have secured an opportunity to perform in front of his countrymen.
After alluding to a UFC event slated to take place in Nottingham, England on last week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter: Live, UFC president Dana White has confirmed the promotion’s plans to hold an event in The Outlaw’s hometown.
“That [fight card] is happening and Dan will probably be on that card,” White said at the UFC 146 post-fight press conference.
Hardy rebounded from a four-fight losing streak on Saturday night when he floored Ludwig with a left hook and finished him with elbows. The victory salvaged his UFC career and also earned the Brit a cool $70,000 Knockout of the Night bonus.
The Nottingham event is expected to take place on September 29 at the Capital FM Arena. Paul Sass, another Brit who earned a first-round finish on Saturday’s fight card, has also been named as a likely participant in the event.

From bsbiz: You don’t remember the Ben Henderson/Edgar card?
I do. I should have clarified though, I was making a comment referring to UFC’s plans for going global. You know eventually there will be a UFC UK, UFC Brazil, UFC Japan, etc.
Dan Hardy being the second biggest British UFC fighter has NOTHING to do with the UFC keeping him around ;)
IDK devin, do you really think it has “NOTHING” to do with it? I know a big reason he has been kept on the roster, even after 4 losses in a row, is because Lorenzo really likes Hardy and thinks he’s an exciting fighter. But 4 losses in a row? Not many (if any?) can claim they’ve kept their jobs after losing 4 straight in the octagon, no matter how exciting they were. I can’t help but think that at least part of the reason is his popularity back home. Maybe I’m wrong, but part of the UFC trying to build itself is bringing in good fighters from around the world to build the sport everywhere…So getting rid of Hardy would’ve meant getting rid of a popular fighter from the UK, one less fighter for them to feel a connecton with.
Oh dude, I totally agree..sorry I guess my sarcasm wasn’t well landed there. But I can at least see that just like Leonard Garcia, its hard to drop a guy who is guaranteed to be an awesome fight every time he gets in there.
Dan Hardy vs The Natural Born Killer 2? is it too much to ask????
