Brazilian UFC fans have been dealt yet another blow to their UFC 147 card as Vitor Belfort is injured and will not fight on the card’s main event. UFC President Dana White announced the injury after UFC 146.
Belfort had be scheduled to fight fellow TUF: Brazil coach Wanderlei Silva before a broken hand sidelined the fighter. The UFC is currently looking for a replacement for the main event fight.
Ariel Helwani reports that Belfort had surgery on the hand today but stated there is no news on how it went at this time.
UFC 147 has been beset by a multitude of problems including losing the prized Silva vs. Sonnen II title fight, a venue change, losing out on a possible Jose Aldo fight, and now Belfort’s injured hand. The card is set for June 23 and is now in search, yet again, for a new main event.
