Antonio Silva To Fight Justin Eilers At July 26 CBS Show
EliteXC heavyweight standout Antonio “Big Foot” Silva will face Justin Eilers for the newly created EliteXC Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night Fights 2 “Unfinished Business” on July 26th at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, California.
Eilers (19-6 MMA, 1-3 UFC) is a UFC veteran turned MMA journeyman, who is fairly outmatched in every possible angle against the bigger, stronger, and more technical Silva.
Silva (10-1 MMA, 3-0 EXC) has notable wins over Ruben Villarreal, Tom Erikson, Wesley Correira, and Ricco Rodriguez, while Eilers has been (T)KO’d during the first round of three of his four UFC bouts.
Eilers is indeed a peculiar choice for “Bigfoot”, though EliteXC attempted to secure various different opponents according to FiveOuncesofPain.com:
“…Fighters such as IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson and Sergei Kharitonov had been rumored as potential challengers for a possible title fight vs. Silva. When asked about specific names, Shaw declined to answer, but he did state that EliteXC officials had contacted several other fighters in addition to Eilers in regards to fighting Silva. According to Shaw, the other fighters had either outright declined the fight or priced themselves out of the picture.”
The title bout will be among three fights featured on Showtime beginning at 8pm prior to the main card airing on CBS at 9pm.
EliteXC’s “Unfinished Business” will be headlined by Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith who will meet in a long awaited rematch for the middleweight crown, while Jake Shields and Nick Thompson are tapped to face off for the vacant welterweight title. Hometown favorite Nick Diaz will also be competing on the card against King Of The Cage veteran Thomas Denny.

I hope this one is a little more fight and a lot less show!
Elite XC needs to capatalize on the IFLand book some of their fighters. That would help them in the long run! IFL had some good fighters that will have to fight somewhere.
I was wondering what happened to Eilers. I remember his first fight he KO’d someone bad and then told Joe Rogan, “Man, I’ll fight anyone! I don’t care! I’ll fight my mom!” I loved that.
He fought Wade Ship in IFC – Caged Combat in April. He won that by TKO in the 4th.
man he got ko’d badd against paul buentello and andrei arlovski
I saw Eilers on HDNET fighting on the Art of War card. Based on that performance I think this is supposed to be a showcase for Silva.
I thought you guys would throw Eilers under the bus cuz he sucks, but wait he was in the UFC, no wonder no one bashes him.
most of the IFL fighters aren’t worth the efforc, IMO.

Hahaha! Kouch, that is great! “Man, I’ll fight anyone! I don’t care! I’ll fight my mom!†I’m gonna have to steal that one.
So they call this a championship fight? I guess Silva is ELITE XC’s “CHUMPION”…JR. by tko 1st rd easily.
I believe he is too heavy but how would Silva do in the UFC?
i wouldnt actually consider that notable wins i have never heard of those guys. justin eilers head doesnt match his body lol he seems like he would be a tought guy who can take a punc he does after all have a big head like tito but i guess its just eaiser to hit then. that win brandon vera had on him was nice he was out cold in that match
No way this should be for a title…
They should bring the Korean that Fedor fought last New Year’s EvE. Call it The battle for the short bus…
Dietrich,
HAHAHAHA yeah Silva does look like he has a touch of down syndrome & Eilers is just inbred hick.
I might be mistaken but I thought Brandon Vera KO’d Eilers with a flying knee or kick. I’m really tired and my memory is shot for the day but I think……I’m right.
Rydawg,
How do you have a “touch” of down syndrome? Sorta thought you either did have down syndrome or did not. I hope I have no touches of any sort. I would describe him more as Tito Ortiz’s uncle from s secluded area in Southern America who’s mother is also his aunt and he juices it with an insane addiction for HGH. He does look funny but I would never want him to know I thought or said that.
What I meant by a “touch” is that with a guy like silva who can easily maul alot of people to death he obviously doesn’t have down syndrome but if you just saw a picture of his face w/ no body you’d swear that guy was riding the short bus. Hence the “touch” of down syndrome; he looks the part.
I shouldn’t have posted the bus line I am just tired of this guy and Choi stealing Giant Silva gigs.
What I thought that Sergei Kharitonov was taking this fight ??? That sucks !!!
