A man with a family out at 5:02 in the morning. I have been to Binghampton, there is not anything that fun happening their.
Not sure why they think they can request ‘respect for his privacy’.
Was there a white chick with a golf club found nearby?
ouch not good not good at all for the champ
Hello…a lot of people’s day begins at 4am. Time of day is irrelevant, crashing the vehicle is. We’ll have to get Jones side of the story next.
@frantzfanon
Not when drunk. At least I don’t wake up and drink. And I am not saying he is guilty.
Suspicion of DUI. Confirmation of a sense of entitlement.
I expect more out of Jones, as he should be the Michael Jordan of MMA over the next several years – the time which the sport is trying to gain acceptance in the mainstream. Not that other sports don’t have issues with their star athletes, but MMA needs squeaky clean faces of the sport at this time.
At least he isn’t doing blow.
Although drinking and driving is illegal, alcohol is not. He made a bad choice and will get off with some probation and maybe some community service. And of course the bill to repair a beautiful car.
It is only a big deal because of who he is. If it was me I assure you there wouldn’t be a story posted about it. I drive a Kia Soul.
Apparently when your famous you become a role model or something like that.
I’m upset that he drives a Bentley. Doesn’t seem very “martial artist” to me. I met Jon and he’s real cool, but Is this guy fake like Rashad says? Or is he just a young, rich, black guy that likes Bentlies? I forget he’s still in his early twenties.
You’re a complete tool. Drinking and driving is a terrible offense and has killed many people in the process. At least if he was doing blow he would only be putting his own life at risk rather than innocent people..if proven guilty for DUI of course.
Let’s see.. I said drinking and driving is illegal. I didn’t condone it. And if he was doing blow it is just as dangerous for him and people around him.
I could be partly a tool but you easily complete it.
Fighters celebrate/party. There was a radio interview that had Chuck Liddell in the studio and it was 8am and he was obliterated. Again not condoning it but… this isn’t hardcore crap.
If he killed someone or even hurt someone else I’d understand jail time, forfeit title, released from ufc or whatever. But he didn’t.
Instead he probably fell asleep at the wheel after staying up all night doing whatever he wants to do because he is a grown man.
And the winner is Jon Bones Jones via Bentley-choke.
i think the bently will learn from this exsperience..
and come back stronger then eva!
the bentley will have to work hard but i think he will be a #1 contender again?
Jones will never be the ‘Jordan of MMA’.. Nobody will hold that title… no such thing.
Smartest thing said on this thread, Butters. Well done.
I’m no lawyer but i believe DUI is driving under the influence so it could of been anything including blow (lets hope not).If it was indeed booze wouldnt it of been a DWI?Either way it looks bad.And for us jones fans it looks like the (jones is fake) talk isn’t gonna go away anytime soon. But worst of all this couldnt of come at a worse time for the ufc and mma..fox deal and all.i don’t believe i’m being over dramatic here the ufc has done everything but refer to jones as the ufc poster boy.By default mma poster boy
DUI and DWI are pretty much the same offense, just depends where you are.
Well if it were a DWI I think it would be clear that it was alcohol.where as a DUI could mean another substance
I just wonder if he’s still praying for Rashad?
But in all seriousness folks, its all good here….he was driving back from the orphanage that he volunteers at, and he had just a little too much holy, sacramental wine. Tis the blood of his savior. If anything, this only speaks more of his ever-growing faith and humility. We are lucky to such a great man as our champion…
chris leben must be part of his camp now
didnt they arrest someone else for a dui, this is getting out of control lol
As all the haters hurriedly sharpen their long knives…
I remember back in the day when Craig Biggio here in Houston was pulled over for DWI. He made a tearful public apology, then everyone moved on.
Again, the rest of the story has yet to arrive.
Hey clown how about killing a family of 4 on his drive home but ya not a big deal.
@Mitch
how about he kills the last unicorn that was on the way to world 8 to save the princess with the last tears of a dried up phoenix…
all these what ifs but it didn’t happen. If it did my opinion would obviously be changed and the scenery of his probation changes a little bit.
Has nothing to do with being a hater. I was a bones supporter from the start. It wouldn’t be as big as it is if he didn’t walk around with that ‘holier than thou’ attitude and try to down talk other fighters and try to mask it with condescending words of concern. Even after he beat rashad, who I couldn’t care less about, he still has to talk shiit about how he’s praying for him cause all he has in his life is chasing the title. That’s BS. I would be just as hard on GSP or Randy Couture if they smashed their humble and holy $400,000 bentley while driving under the influence of any drug of alcohol.
You can call people haters, but there IS an inverse to that and its just as unattractive…nut-hugging. That’s also an ugly color on people.
A Champion fighter is never supposed to exude confidence, or what you erroneously classify as “holier-than-thou”. OK. That’s your stance on it.
Just know that you’re naive if you don’t think there’s people out there that couldn’t wait for something like this. And those people–THOSE people–are the haters.
There’s confidence, then there’s the way Jones acts. He’s not a humble dude. At all. You can have confidence and still be humble. Ask GSP, Couture, Condit, JDS, Cain, etc.
Look, you bought into it. That’s fine. I did too at first. I was constantly defending Jones on here and in the forums. But little by little my view of him changed. Maybe I’m just a contrarian and dont realize it. I don’t know, but I can’t stand his attitude. Its not a character flaw that you believe the act. But why do you think he gets booed so much? Why do you think so many people cheered for Rashad when he’s normally booed? There’s something about Jones that a lot of people think is fake and insincere.
Maybe its just cause he’s young and not used to having money, and maybe he’ll grow out of it, but right now he acts like he belongs in a Massengill bottle. And maybe, just maybe, this DUI/accident is exactly what he needs to bring him back down to Earth.
And of course people were waiting for something like this to happen. This inda of stuff confirms, in a way, what they already thought about him. Some people hate, sure, but others are just realists.
Big-gio Big-gio! H town! Represent!
Cept they just got worked by the Rangers :) Man I hope we get it this year. We are definitely on the right track. Hopefully Hamilton and Beltrain stay as healthy as possible. And how damn lucky did we get with Darvish?
What a damn shame…
And as far as his management saying to respect his privacy….uhm NO!
First off when you drink & drive thats a matter that’s not private, you are on the road endangering the lives of others & 2nd you are a reconizable public figure you should know better…
I hope it was just a regular accident, a deer jumped out of no where or something to that extent.
Go to espn And talk baseball bud
this was just a bad judgement call for Jones, he can afford a bently he can therfore afford a taxi!!!! Come on Jones your smarter than this, lets hope things arnt going to his head a bit and he doesnt think he is untouchable like so may sports stars have done in the past, christ just look at footballers!!!
There is apparently a bundle to identify about this. I believe you made some nice points in features also.
