Maximum Fighting Championship’s MFC 33 took place tonight live from Edmonton, Alberta. The main event featured Nathan Coy facing off against TUF-Alum Ryan McGillivray. The event aired live on HDNet.Coy battered McGillivray to the point that McGillivray’s coach, Greg Jackson, had to push his fighter in the shoulder and chest to get him to answer the fourth round. The fact that Jackson let McGillivray go out angered analyst, and MMA pioneer, Pat Militech but fortunately the doctor stepped in on behalf of the fighter.

Sounds like a crap move by Jackson, i realize he is a top dog in the game but help your fighter by throwing in the towel on his behalf…live to fight another day.
Greg asked Gill if he could still fight, Gill said yes. As a coach, you have to restrain from towel throwing as much as possible, or you undercut your fighter, ruin confidence and trust. On the flip, As a fighter, you have to know when you cannot continue and either tap or quit. I do not think Greg was wrong.
It was a tough call no matter what since it was a title fight and Gill did say yes, but anytime you have to tell a fighter to “wake up” it’s not a good sign. I understand Jackson letting gill go, but I’ve seen him call a fight for less. Just a tough situation for a coach no matter how you look at it.
