Dana White Dishes Info on Nogueira Debut and a Potential UFC Event in New York City

Earlier today I discussed what I thought was the biggest news to come from Dana White’s appearance last night on The Scott Ferrall Show on Sirius radio but it was not the only news of the night. Dana White also gave us some more details on Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s debut and a future UFC event at Madison Square Garden.

When I tuned into the show last night I was surprised to hear that “Big Nog’s” UFC debut would be at UFC 73. The saga that has become his debut seems to finally be official when Dana White told listeners Nogueira would make his long awaited on July 7th at UFC 73 in Sacramento. Just yesterday we thought we learned that he would be making his debut at Fight Night 10 or The Ultimate Fighter 5 finale against Justin McCully but this is the most solid source we’ve had yet on the date and location of his debut.

White also dished information on a future UFC event in New York, where MMA is currently banned. Boxing has long been centered in New York City, particularly Madison Square Garden, but as MMA has grown from its humble roots the sport is looking to expand into the empire state. According to White the UFC is planning on holding a UFC event at Madison Square Garden in 2008.

The event will have an allure like no other, taking place in the “capital of the world” at one of the most historic venues available.
