Another fight has fallen through for bantamweight Johnny Bedford, as his scheduled UFC on Fox 3 meeting with Nick Denis has been cancelled due to an injury the TUF 14 alum sustained in training camp.
Bedford’s last appearance was in December of 2011 at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale, as a proposed bout against Mitch Gagnon this past January was cancelled due to Gagnon running into visa issues. MMAFighting first reported the news, revealing that Bedford’s camp has not released any info on the specific nature of his injury.
Bedford’s replacement will be his Ultimate Fighter 14 castmate Roland Delorme (7-1) who, like Bedford, didn’t make it to the show’s finals, but scored a victory on TUF 14 Finale. That victory, which served as his UFC debut and came via submission over Josh Ferguson, was also the last time that Delorme has appeared inside the octagon. The 28-year-old will be looking to make it two in a row when he meets fellow Canadian Nick Denis.
Denis (11-2) made his UFC debut this past January at UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller where he very impressively knocked out Joseph Sandoval with a barrage of standing elbows from the clinch. The Ninja of Love is on a two-fight winning streak, having won his last fight via “KO (suplex and chokeslam)”.
UFC on Fox 3: Diaz vs. Miller is scheduled for May 5 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey and will feature a main event between lightweight scrappers Nate Diaz and Jim Miller.
