With the confusion surrounding the upcoming UFC on FX 4 event being smoothed out, matchups aplenty are being announced for the event that takes place at The Revel Casino in Atlantic City on June 22nd. Notable fighters such as Dan Miller, Rick Story, and Matt Riddle will be making their return to the Octagon when the UFC returns to “Las Vegas of the East Coast” for the first time since UFC 53 in June 2005.
Dan Miller (13-6-1) will be making his welterweight debut in his home state against Richardo Funch (8-3). Both are coming off of losses in Brazil in their most recent bouts. Miller lost to Rousimar Palhares at UFC 134 last August via unanimous decision, while Funch lost to Mike Pyle via TKO at UFC 142 in January. Miller, the former IFL middleweight champion, is just 2-5 in his last 7 matches. He will look to end his 2 fight losing streak against Funch, who is in his second stint with the UFC, going 0-3 during his entire UFC career.
After a strong start to 2011, which included a career win over Thiago Alves at UFC 130 and continuing his winning streak to six, Rick Story (13-5) will look to rebound from two consecutive losses that closed out the year. Story will face fellow welterweight Rich Attonito (10-5), who hails from New Jersey. “The Raging Bull” most recently fought at UFC 140 in December, losing to Jake Hecht via 2nd round TKO. Story, meanwhile, will look to return to title contention after losing two straight decisions to Charlie Brenneman and Martin Kampmann, respectively.
Lastly, Matt Riddle (6-3) will look to extend his winning streak coming off of his split decision win over Henry Martinez at UFC 143 in February. Riddle, who has spent his entire professional career in the UFC after appearing on The Ultimate Fighter season 7, will be fighting near his hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania. He will take on Luis Ramos (19-7). The two were originally set to square off at UFC 141 in December, but Riddle had to withdraw the day of the fight due to an illness. Ramos lost his UFC debut at UFC 134 in August to Erick Silva via first round knockout.
UFC on FX 4 will be headlined by a lightweight battle between Gray Maynard and Clay Guida.
