Nick Diaz: It’s All KJ’s Fault

Posted by Kris Karkoski on Jun 19, 2008 at 5:00 pm ET20 Comments

Diaz vs. CorbbreyRemember that time Nick Diaz and his crew instigated a scuffle with KJNoon’s and his father at that EliteXC show? Seemed like a pretty jerk move, right? Well that wasn’t Nick’s fault, just so you know. In fact, the whole mess was actually KJ Noons’ fault for being such a poser. Seriously:

“And he (Diaz) points the finger squarely at Noons, who in one of his more charitable and less x-rated diatribes he referred to as “a poser.” But it started when he was asked to return to the ring to do an interview. “I’m not a punk and I don’t start (expletive),” Diaz said. “They brought me to the cage to do an interview about the rematch. I was doing my job. I didn’t go in there like some crazy psycho (expletive). It wasn’t staged. But it was all because of this (expletive) poser.”

Diaz said he was upset when, after being asked if he wanted the rematch by interviewer Bill Goldberg, Noons asked the crowd what it thought. Noons was born in Hawaii and was the crowd favorite. Not surprisingly, the crowd vehemently said no. Diaz asked Noons why he was afraid and he made an obscene gesture. Then, the pushing and shoving ensued.”

Fair enough, I’ll trust that Diaz may not have requested to get into the cage and that EliteXC was actually foolish enough to invite him in. But something about Nick Diaz still screams “I’m a paranoid lunatic” like this little gem about mugs, for example:

“But Diaz said it didn’t end then. He said Monday he ran into Noons and his family after returning from a long run Sunday and that another confrontation ensued. Again, he said, it was precipitated by Noons.

“My car pulled up in front of the hotel and he and his girlfriend and his mom and dad were there,” Diaz said. “Right away, he put his mug on me. He was staring me down and trying to give the impression that he’s hard core. I flipped him off, but he’s standing over there like he’s flashing. I go, ‘What the (expletive) are you doing? I’m not the one doing (expletive).’ I couldn’t understand why this guy is putting his mug on me, but he had to act like he was some kind of a (expletive) tough guy in front of his girlfriend and his Dad…”

Diaz concluded:

“I’m not the one bringing my family into the ring and showing them off. I’m not the one who (showed up to the pre-fight news conference) in a (expletive) suit trying to act like I’m some kind of tough guy (expletive) rich kid. This is war to me and we have a serious situation on our hands now.”

Well there you have it.  K.J. Noons instigated Diaz from the start by being such a poser and “putting his mug” on him. What a bastard. I do believe the icing on the cake is “we have a serious situation on our hands now.” Gees, if putting your mug on Nick Diaz while acting like a poser creates a serious situation, I can only imagine how serious things get once you beat him up in front of thousands of people (a feat I’m assuming KJ can perform again.)

My Two cents: I think Nick Diaz needs his own PR firm working for him 24/7. They should never let him speak or do anything but train and fight. Even if Nick’s antics create juicy hype to fuel EliteXC shows, he still comes off as the loudest, whiny voice in MMA that no one wants to hear. Hey Nick, suck it up, make weight, say as few words as possible, and try to win a fight here and there. Whew, I feel better.

    Eric,

Good article and very funny. I take it Nick is your personal favorite MMA fighter. His personality is perfect for Elite XC. I’ve enjoyed Nick in the past and really wanted him to string together some wins but it has not been a steady ride. Nick has a personality you love or hate and that’s that. Too bad for Nick, people don’t like his vocabulary much more than Dana White’s and people get a bad impression. I liked when you called him a “bastard.” Very good.

  • jpm says:

You can only assume that when Noon’s ‘put his mug’ on on Diaz it was full of boiling hot coffee, what a jerk

  • Cole Miller says:

Gotta love Nick’s attitude..he’s a true brawler. I hate all these new MMA guys who are just athletes trying to become fighters…they go out there 3 rounds and just try to survive…Nick has the true fighting spirit…

  • Dannyboy says:

He didn’t get his nickname Nick “The Dick” Diaz for nothing!

What a guy! Can he come to my birfday party pwease?

  • Dirty says:

I wasn’t impressed with Nicks attitude after he lost to Noons…….. he acted like a baby and ran to the back freaking out.

Your right, his attitude is perfect for Elite XC and Nate Diaz better watch his attitude as well, because I saw him flashing a few fingers on TV, i’m sure UFC doesn’t want any part of that crap !

In this case , they gotta stop the talking and fight. There both little babies………… lol

  • Cole Miller says:

bull****….fans love that type of stuff…bad blood is what makes great fights. I’d way rather watch two guys fight that hate each other than two guys that respect each other…and yea the fingers were totoally uncalled for I mean.. Dana White prob went ****in crazy about that….o wait he drops the f bomb all the time DIRTY..people don’t give a **** about sportmanship…this is fighting…

  • Cole Miller says:

Im not trying to defend Nick either…cuz he really isn’t that good of a fighter…I think his brother has hope tho…very good bjj…and only 22…

  • DIEGO says:

NICK DIAZ IS ONE OF THE REASONS FOR MMA FAME IN THE WORLD. I DONT KNOW WHERE YOU PEOPLE GET OFF TALKNG ABOUT ALEGEND LIKET HSI.
    HE SHOULD BE ELITE CHAMP
NOONS IS NOBODY AND WILL BE NOBODY.

  • Dietrich says:

It just seems like Diaz is always going to be the bad guy.

  • Dirty says:

    Cole Miller,

Dana might drop the F-Bomb but your missing the point, Dana still respresents and backs up the sport with a good amount of respect and dignity. Nick and Nate looked like little punks in a street gang flipping off everyone while they running up the stairs. Thats not the way a champion should represent himself

You don’t see Couture, Anderson, St-pierre, lesnar, penn, fedor, cro cop, rampage, henderson, wanderlei …etc etc needing to create little feuds and hatred. Its about seeing whos the best……….

I personally could not care less about feuds. Thats what I watch WWE for, I watch and train MMA for the sport.

  • YZFOXRACING says:

HEY DIEGO I DON’T KNOW ABOUT A LEGEND BUT YES… I LIKE THE DIAZ BROTHERS. THEY LOVE TO FIGHT AND THIS IS A FIGHTING SPORT. ALL THESE PEOPLE TALKING ISH ABOUT HIM. BUT ITS ALL GOOD.

  • Dietrich says:

    YZFOXRACING
I am also a fan of both of them. I wish things went a little easier for them.

  • joel b says:

i went to school with these guys and they are the same now as they were then so they are not gonna change i agree that dana wasnt too happy with nate’s finale in that fight but he is only 23 and he is kinda new still but he will settle down like all those older guys DIRTY mentioned.

despite what you guys may think putting you “mug” on someone where i am from his bad buisness you might as well rob them because the 209 come with a sense or pride. you treat some one like a B@!$# then expect them not to respond with a laugh. its like pulling a gun without pulling the trigger!

  • joel b says:

either way i think they are both good for the sport and look forward to more of their fights

  • Dirty says:

No doubt, The Diaz brothers are amazing young fighters. They better mature and fast because Nick is in line for Dream and elite XC title shots and I wouldn’t be surprised if Nate steps in line for the UFC LW title.

They can’t respresent the sport as the worlds best acting like, it just isn’t good for the future and the sport of MMA. It already can;t even get sanctionned in New York and in-ring brawls after a fight are not going to help.

  • Cole Miller says:

The diaz brothers will always act like that…like I said they have a brawler mentality…if they weren’t fighting in the ufc/elite xc…they would be fighting in the streets….and I don’t give a **** about the fueds either…it just makes for a better fight when they hate each other…and please don’t watch wwe, that **** makes me sick to my stomach, we all know its fake..its pretty much a soap opera with steroided actors.

I agree with ya about the whole future of the sport…anyone who doesn’t watch MMA will just think of it as a bunch of punk ass street kids in a cage….but hey you gotta always have a bad guy….I mean tito left, so someone’s gotta be the asshole..lesnar shouldn’t be put with the rest of those names…i mean he has potential cuz of his wrestling background…but he still hasn’t proved himself yet.

  • Cole Miller says:

whats everybodys pics for this weekends fight??

I got sanchez, tanner, and amir….Amir reminds me so much of forrest…always the underdogg and gettin beat up…but still finds a way to win…I hope forrest puts it on rampage too…he deserves that belt

  • lawrence says:

Kj Noons will NOT beat Diaz again your ****ing crazy You can hate all you want but he is a damn good fighter

  • Dietrich says:

    Nick wins the rematch….

  • Angelo says:

If I was Noons I’d be pooping myself right now. I know, I’m a Diaz, and we are jammin’ crazy, passionate mother jammers!
