UFC lightweight championship fight – Frankie Edgar (c) vs. Ben Henderson

Round 1 – Marc Goddard is our referee tonight and we are ready to go for the lightweight title. Touch of gloves and Benson immediately begins feinting with his right hand. Nice shot to body. Edgar catches a kick and looks for the takedown but Henderson with a crazy counter and Edgar backs off. Edgar with a brief takedown. Edgar catches another leg kick but doesn’t use it. Bendo with a superman attempt but catches Edgar with a low blow on a kick. Quick break and we’re back. Edgar catches another kick and he lands a nice outside legkick. Edgar catches another kick and then another. Nice knee by Bendo. Nice combo by Edgar. Edgar with a nice right. Nice left by Bendo but Edgar with a great shot to the body. Bendo goes high but Edgar with another brief take down. Nice knee by Bendo. Poor spinning backfist by Edgar misses. Spinning back kick by Edgar. Bendo goes for a takedown but he’s thrown off. MMAFrenzy scores a very close round 10-9 Edgar.

Round 2 – Edgar sporting a black eye now. Nice right by Edgar. Bendo answers with one of his own. Bendo throws another kick that’s caught again by Edgar. Edgar is working hard for angles and Bendo stalks forward. Nice inside legkicks by Edgar. Edgar catches another kick and Bendo exchanges with the champ before Edgar lets it go. Bendo telegraphs a big punch and Edgar briefly clinches. Big knee connects from Bendo. Nice combo by Edgar. Nice hook from Edgar. Edgar with a takedown but Bendo scrambles and Edgar ends up with a front-headlock. Bendo works out with a standing kimura but cannot do anything with it. Nice leg kick by Edgar. Big shot by Bendo is answered by a vicious combo from Edgar. Edgar with another takedown and this time he is able to keep Bendo down with :40 left. Nice ground and bound by the champ. Benson with a sub attempt and misses. Massive upkick from Bendo has turned Edgar’s nose into a fountain as the round ends. That devastating shot steals the round for Bendo. MMAFrenzy scores it 10-9 Bendo.

Round 3 – Nice kick to the body by Edgar. Nice right by Edgar. Bendo clinches as Edgar storms and the fighters separate. Bendo misses a big shot and Edgar with a vicious counter combo. Edgar tries a takedown but doesn’t get it. He lands a nice punch on the way out though. Edgar with another takedown attempt. Big knee by Bendo is answered by nasty shot from Edgar. Nice right by Edgar. Bendo catches a kick and gets Edgar down. Edgar is scrambling on the ground now and gets back to his feet. His left eye may end this fight later though as it looks bad. Nice right by Edgar. Bendo throws a big knee but misses. Edgar with a nice shot but Bendo with a nice stiff jab to stop the exchange. Nasty headkick from Bendo. Edgar with a big takedown but loses control as it hits the round. Bendo misses a big combo. Edgar with a great takedown as the round ends answered by a wicked Bendo elbow. Round 4 – Inside legkick by Edgar. Headkick by Edgar is checked. Bendo stuffs an Edgar takedown attempt. Nice jab by Bendo stops Edgar’s movement briefly. Nice right by Edgar. Wicked kick from Bendo cracks Edgar in the cup and we’re taking a break. Edgar shakes it off though. Nice right by Edgar. Legkick by Edgar. Bendo takedown attempt is defended well. Big knee by Bendo and he jumps into an Edgar takedown. Bendo fully commits to a guillotine and it is deep. Amazingly Edgar fights it off. Nice elbows by Bendo. Bendo is switching to a tae kwon do stance now. Powerful leg kick from Bendo lands and Edgar catches it. Edgar releases and catches another Bendo kick and releases again. Bendo with a brief takedown and lands a nice body kick as Edgar escapes. Nice combo by Bendo. MMAfrenzy scores the round 10-9 Bendo (38-38).

Round 5 – Nice combo by Edgar. Edgar catches the kick and lets it go as he throws a headkick. Nice uppercut from Edgar. Nasty left hook from Edgar lands. Great right from Edgar. Edgar with a takedown and briefly has Bendo’s back before he escapes. Nice legkick by Edgar. Wicked right from Bendo. Nice combo from both fighters. Both fighters kick at the same time and Edgar slips momentarily. Edgar with a shot that clips Bendo. Edgar pounces and briefly grabs a cradle before Bendo recovers. Under a minute now. Powerful kicks from Bendo land. Edgar catches another one and misses a takedown along the cage. :30 left now. Jumping knee from Bendo lands flush as Edgar tries for the takedown. Bendo cranks a guillotine and bombs away in side control as the horn sounds. That exchange could have stole the fight. MMAfrenzy scores the round, and the fight, for Ben Henderson. 48-47.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Ryan Bader

Round 1 – Fighters come quickly. Legkick from Bader lands. Overhand right from Bader misses and Rampage clinches. Bader gets it to the cage and is working nice knees to Rampage’s thighs but Rampage pummels out. Counter right from Rampage barely misses and Rampage knew it. Nice right by Bader. Legkick by Bader. Overhand right by Bader whiffs but he takes a shot and clinches Rampage against the cage. Rampage is doing a good defending the takedown. Bader feints and takes a double but Rampage defends against the cage. Nice use of a whizzer by Rampage and we’re centered. Bader with a front-headlock and lands a nice knee before Rampage wisely drops his hand. Rampage fights out and we’re centered. Big left from Rampage lands at the 10-sec mark. MMAFrenzy scores the round 10-9 Bader.

Round 2 – Overhand right from Bader misses and Rampage’s counter barely misses. That counter shot keeps getting closer and closer to landing. Over/under clinch now. Rampage controlling Bader against the cage. Nice knee by Bader but Rampage catches it and slams Bader with force. Wow. Nice left by Rampage. Nice body kick by Rampage. wow. Rampage win another power shot to the body and Bader gets the takedown. Bader working in half guard now. Bader is not doing much on top, he appears to be favoring his right arm after that earlier slam. Nice elbow by Bader. Rampage is working back to the cage slowly and he’s there but Bader turns him away but Page regains guard. Rampage is back on his feet now but Bader takes him back down and is landing slow but heavy knees to Rampage’s thighs. Rampage with a hard elbow as regains full guard. Tale of two halves there. Bader took it lake 10-9. 20-18.

Round 3 – Nice jab by Rampage. Bader gains the clinch along the cage. Rampage battles out but eats a left. Bader is stuffed on a takedown. Beautiful takedown set up by Bader and he is in side control. That could likely end the fight. Knees to the body by Bader. Rampage tries to wall walk but can’t reverse, he does regain full guard though. Nice shot by Bader. Rampage gives up his back to escape and he’s on his feet. Bader brings him back down though and Rampage regains full guard. Crowd is booing as Bader works shots to the body and head. Rampage works back to the cage but Bader is doing a great job of preventing Rampage from escaping. Forearms and elbows from Bader now. Kimura attempt by Bader now, Jackson defends and Bader gives it up. Jackson explodes up but ends up caught in a guillotine choke as the horn sounds. MMAFrenzy scores the round and the fight for Ryan Bader 10-9 (30-27).

Cheick Kongo vs. Mark Hunt

Round 1 – Touch of gloves and we’re off. Big leg kick by Hunt and he slips a little and Kongo gives chase. Kongo gets reversed in the clinch along the cage but the fighters separate. Hook from Hunt misses. Power jab by Kongo lands. Nice hook by Hunt. Beautiful outside leg kick by Hunt. Kongo comes forward and Hunt times it beautifully and sends Kongo tumbling to the cage but he recovers. Hunt rocks Kongo with a left-right-left-right combo that sends Kongo to the canvas. Herb Dean jumps in quickly as Hunt lands a few strikes. Stoppage was slightly early but ok.

Jake Shields vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama

Round 1 – Marc Goddard is our referee tonight. Both fighters come out in almost identical stances. Body kick by Shields. Shields with an outside single leg. Akiyama gets it to the cage and defends the takedown. Fighters separate and we’re centered now. Shields with another failed takedown. Switch kick to the body by Shields. Shields dives in on another takedown after eating an uppercut. Shields gets it to the cage. Shields moves to the back but Akiyama is setting up a throw. Shields evades and takes his back but Akiyama defends. Fight stops briefly to pick up Akiyama’s mouthpiece. Shield’s with a kick to a body. Combo by Akiyama and Shields grabs a thai clinch but cannot do anyhting with it. Shields with a legkick that Akiyama uses to set up a brilliant leg sweep. Wow. Fighters are back up now. Akiyama wants to keep it standing clearly. MMAFrenzy scores the round 10-9 Akiyama.

Round 2 -Shields again misses the takedown. Nice kick to the body by Akiyama. Spinning backfist from Akiyama lands. Another missed takedown attempt by Shields. Leg kick to body kick combo fro Shields lands. Shields with a deep shot but Akiyama’s balance is simply too good. Legkick by Shields. Nice jumping jab by Akiyama. Nice hook by Shields followed by an uppercut. Powerful legkick from Akiyama buckles Shield’s leg. Shields tries a kick but Akiyama catches it. Akiyama with and over/under leg sweep that lands hard but again Akiyama allows Shields up. Shields dives on a double but takes Akiyama’s back but he’s standing as the round ends. MMAFrenzy scores a very close round 10-9 Shields.

Round 3 – Headkick by Akiyama misses to start the round. Another leg kick to body kick combo by Shields. Outside legkick by Shields. Akiyama has the clinch briefly but lets it go. Nice shot by Akiyama. Shields on another deep double but again Akiyama defends it easily. Knee by Akiyama along the fence. Akiyama with shots to the body as we separate. Nice shot by Akiyama answered by Shields. Shields with a weak outside legkick. Another double by Shields and he briefly has Akiyama down but Akiyama springs back up. Knees by Shields along the cage. Akiyama reverses Shields along the cage. Referee separates them, bad move. Akiyama went for the sweep but misses it and Shields gets his back. Akiyama tries to defend and ends up grabbing the cage twice. Shields keeps his back and ends the fight working for a rear naked choke. Great fight. MMAFrenzy scores the round and the fight for Jake Shields 10-9 (29-28).

Yushin Okami vs. Tim Boetsch

Round 1 – Leon Roberts is our referee. Boetsch opens up with a leg kick. Boetsch misses a low front kick. Nice combo from Okami there. That straight left by Okami seems to have calmed Boetsch down big time. Big jab stuns Boetsch and stops his advance. Power jab lands from Okami. Boetsch throws a front kick but eats a wicked right jab. Boetsch is just throwing here, not stringing things together at all. Legkick to right combo from Okami lands. Boetsch telegraphs an uppercut and Okami easily evades. Headkick from Okami lands hard. Body kick by Boetsch. Okami’s jab is crisp tonight. Good legkick by Boetsch. Head kick by Okami lands. Nice right by Okami. Right hand lands by Boetsch. Nice knee lands by Okami. Boetsch is bleeding from both cheeks now. MMAFrenzy scores the round 10-9 Okami.

Round 2 – Nice combo by Okami. Wicked knee from Okami lands to Boetsch’s body. Head kick attempt by Boetsch is checked. Okami grabs double-unders and pins Boetsch to the cage. Boetsch with a punch to the body. Okami going for a trip and switches to a double. Okami gets him down but Boetsch grabs a guillotine. Okami looks relaxed and isn’t wasting much energy as he is resting in Boetsch’s half guard. Okami breaks free and is working for side control now. Okami isolates the head-arm to set up an arm-triangle. Okami with shots to the body now and Okami is working a kimura now. Okami in mount now and gives up the arm to drop heavy shots on Boetsch. Okami briefly looks for an arm triangle but starts dropping more bombs as the round ends. Dominant round by Okami. MMAFrenzy scores the round 10-8 Okami (20-17).

Round 3 – Boetsch is storming forward looking for the finish big right by Boetsch lands. Massive right by Boetsch lands again. Boetsch rocks Okami against the cage and starts landing massive uppercuts. Headkick by Boetsch and Okami drops. Boetsch is dropping bombs as referee Leon Roberts is forced to step in. Wow.

Hatsu Hioki vs. Bart Palaszewski

Round 1 – Herb Dean is our referee and we’re underway. Nice shot from Hioki drops Bartimus. Bartimus bounces back up and eats a big body kick. Hioki looks infinitely better in this fight so far. Beautiful duck under to a single-leg from Hioki and he get’s to the cage and dumps Bartimus. Bartimus with a brief guillotine attempt but Hioki easily escapes and now is dropping punches from side control. Bartimus gives  up his back and Hioki goes for an armbar. Bartimus evades but Hioki uses a omoplata to retake top position. Beautiful grappling from Hioki. Hioki landing nice shots in Bartimus guard. dominant round for Hioki. MMAFrenzy scores it 10-8 Hioki.

Round 2 – Hioki with a front kick to the body to start the round. Jab to the body by Hioki. Nice 1,2 from Bartimus. Action slows down. Over the top head kick from Hioki lands. Jab by Hioki. Bartimus with a nice combo. Hioki is checking his legkicks though. Hioki misses a right headkick but lands a left one. Hioki checks a legkick. Nice rightleg kick by Bartimus. Hioki lands a nice takedown and takes Bartimus back as the horn sounds. Closer round this time but Hioki still takes it 10-9 (20-17).

Round 3 – Bartimus comes out firing and Hioki ducks for a takedown attempt. Fighters clinch against the cage briefly but Hioki with a nice trip. Hioki working in empty-half side control. Hioki now has full side control. Hioki goes to mount but Bartimus recovers half-guard. Hioki setting up an arm-triangle. Hioki gives it up and moves to a partially mounted crucifix. Hammer fists from Hioki. Regular punches now from Hioki. Bartimus gives up his back and Hioki throws the hooks in. Hioki digging for the choke. Hioki’s control is incredible. Big strikes and elbows from Hioki. Hioki going to the body now. Bartimus tries to stand but falls back and Hioki is in perfect position for a twister but goes for a neck crank instead. Hioki gives it up and just tees off on Bartimus. Hioki tires for an armbar as the horn sounds. MMAFrenzy scores the round and the fight for Hioki 10-8 (30-25).

Joe Lauzon vs. Anthony Pettis

Round 1 – Mark Goddard is our referee tonight. Pettis with a big front kick to the body early. Lauzon with a power combo and Pettis evades. Another rush from Lauzon. Pettis with a nice combo of hooks to the head  of Lauzon. Side kick to the body by Pettis. Pettis with a left high kick that Lauzon thinks is going low and Lauzon is unconscious. Unneeded shots from Pettis and that’s it.
