Following the UFC’s event debut on Wednesday with UFC on Fuel TV 1, Fuel TV officials have announced that Fuel TV enjoyed the highest ratings of the channel’s history. The event averaged 217,000 viewers throughout the three hour program. The event peaked near the end of the event, with the third round of the main event between Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez, which brought in 315,000 viewers.
Wednesday’s event comes just three months after the UFC’s debut on FOX, and less than one month than the debut on FX. Fuel TV has hosted preliminary card fights for both UFC on FX 1, which averaged 148,000 viewers, and UFC on Fox 2, which averaged 144,000 viewers.
Since the debut on Fox in November, Fuel TV has increased from 30 million subscribers to 36 million.
“We fully expected the UFC was going to deliver Fuel TV extraordinary ratings, and now we’re seeing it,” said George Greenberg, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Fuel TV. “We are beyond ecstatic about the audience and the impact the UFC is having on our network’s growth thus far. The sky’s the limit on where this network can go from here.”
Wednesday’s event in Omaha, Nebraska was the first of six events to be featured on Fuel TV in 2012. The next scheduled event on Fuel TV will take place on April 12th in Stockholm, Sweden. The card is headlined with a light heavyweight matchup featuring Sweden’s own Alexander Gustafsson taking on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
