Updates On July 19th UFC Event and Major UFC Announcement
There are two major updates to pass along this afternoon.
MMAMania.com is reporting that the UFC is going forward with plans for a July 19th show on Spike TV opposite of Affliction’s “Banned” pay-per-view. According to the report Brandon Vera will make his light heavyweight debut in the main event against an opponent to be determined. Rumored opponent Wanderlei Silva reportedly turned down the short-notice bout. Cain Velasquez is also expected to fight at the event.
The UFC is believed to be actively looking for fighters for the event and may shift bouts from upcoming events to fill the July 19th fight card. The event is expected to take place at The Pearl at The Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Also, Dave Meltzer is reporting through F4WOnline.com that UFC President Dana White’s meeting with UFC employees to disclose the promotion’s “major announcement” will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon. News of the deal should then break early tomorrow afternoon.

I wish they would come on already and bring UFC event back to Vegas soon. I was waiting for 87 then it’s in Atlanta???????? Now 88 is in England again????? ****!!! Can’t make it to Vegas for the Forest fight. If ever in Vegas stop off at Extreme Couture. They let you walk around the gym. Mike Pyle was in there training, and the receptionist said I just missed Forrest and Sam Stout about an hour before. ****!!! Met Randys wife. Very nice lady. Just cant wait to go back to Vegas but am waiting for a UFC event then I can start making plans.
By the way I for one as a diehard MMA fan am not looking forward to an Okami/Silva fight no matter how muchthey try and promo it. Silva is just way to dominant these days for Okami this time. I am however getting sick of these LONG breaks between title defenses. We get one, MAYBE two defences a year? Hell, when did Rampage fight last? September? No injury just a long wait! Same with the heavyweight defence now that theyt are the new TUF coaches. I think EVERY pay-per view should have a title defence and sometimes make it two for an extra good card.
If you did a title defense each ppv you would still only have two defenses a year. I agree, I think when you win the championship you should have to fight more. I say once every 4 months, that’s 3 title defenses a year, or hell you could do 4 defenses a year. That gives you a month off and two months to train, plenty of time. I think that’s the price you pay of being a champ, it should be your obligation to fight.
This announcement better be the biggest news ever…hes postponed this for over a week now..then again in an interview White says this is gonna be more for the people that work for UFC..but the longer we wait the more this gets hyped up… I wish it was cheaper ppv’s from now on!

Dana needs to make a push for the addition of a division of dwarfs and/or midgets. I really don’t want to beat out Elite XC but I just might have my own big announcement coming up. I am so disappointed by Dana and this BS hype that I am starting my own MMA promotion unlike any other. I will have people in wheel chairs, blind people, mute people who can only win by submission, people missing limbs, dwarfs, midgets and robots. I am really disappointed about getting so excited for an announcement full of “nothingness.” Sucks as a fan.
