Quick Hits: Overeem’s New Camp and Future, Kyle Injured, UFC on Fuel 1 Changes, and More

UFC heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem has found a new camp and appears to have the date of his fight with UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos.

Overeem has joined the “Blackzillians” camp and has signed with Authentic Sports Management. The former Golden Glory product’s camp revealed the news via press release.

Overeem will now be more focused on his apparent Memorial Day Weekend fight with Dos Santos. While the fight is expected, it has yet to be made official by the UFC.

Other News:

  • Strikeforce fighter Mike Kyle has suffered an injury and will no longer fight Gegard Mousasi at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey. Strikeforce will seek a replacement for Mousasi but none has been named at this time.
  • UFC on Fuel 1 has expanded to a six-fight main card now as bantamweights John ¬†Albert and Ivan Menjivar have been moved from the Facebook prelims to the main card.
  • A UFC 144 bout between featherweights Hatsu Hioki and Bart Palaszewski has been moved to the UFC 144 main card. More details on the move are expected t be revealed soon.
  • Former Bellator prospect Rasul Mirzaev was finally released on bail today in Moscow. The 2010 SAMBO World Champion has been imprisoned since August due to the incident regarding the tragic death of a Russian student outside a nightclub. Mirzaev’s release is tied to the recent downgrading of his charges in the incident.
