I think Big Country should get his contract re-negociated. I know that $20,000 has to do with the contract made with the TUF outcome… but Roy Nelson is probably the most experienced fighter going in and out of TUF history. He puts on a show and grabs people’s interest. Win or Lose, he deserves a bigger chunk of change IMO.
Agreed. That works out to about $100 for every devastating blow to his head.
i know eh?
Absolutely agree. I don’t think any other fighter has more heart and Roy always puts on a good fight.
hopefully diaz will want the money and come back. i think this fight will make us all look at what a fight is, and what the rules are, and how they function. honestly to me it looked as if something was about to burst anly after 25 minutes. there are a lot of possibilities, extended rounds/overtime/ 10 mnute rounds/ starting rounds the way they ended up ending at the last round. let’s not be old and fearful or uncreative in building the sport. while it wasn’t fought to a finish it was easily one of the best fights this year in terms of being on that very elite level where everything even a stalemate is awesome when you stop to think how few could hand with those guys. hats off
I agree. I think that the Diaz Condit fight is a great case for a transparent scoring system.
Diaz himself said that he thought he was winning the fight and would have taken the arm in the last minute if he thought he was behind.
Well, what if he KNEW he was behind? What if the fighters corners could look at the scoreboard and formulate their strategy on the run with some assurance? How many dodgey decisions would have worked out differently if fighters had have KNOWN that they were behind?
It’s an easy change to implement and they can trial it at a “Fight Night”. If it works, keep it. It’d make for a better viewing experience, and for better fights.

“Diaz himself said that he thought he was winning the fight and would have taken the arm in the last minute if he thought he was behind.”
Here’s an idea…if you can take an arm and win the fight, WIN THE F$CKING FIGHT. If he lost because of that he’s an idiot who deserved to lose.
The scoring doesn’t need to be transparent. If you can “finish” the fight and choose not to, shut the hell up and get the f out.
I agree with shiny….since when does a stockton badaass, bjj black belt NOT finish a submission? If nothing else, THAT proves he doesn’t deserve to fight georges.
All these people say that Condit fought to win the points battle, but isn’t that exactly what what diaz is admitting doing by saying he deliberately did NOT secure the ARM when he supposedly oils have?
