In case you missed last night’s UFC 143 event or want to check it out again, Fox Sports has released highlights from UFC 143, including Carlos Condit’s main event win over Nick Diaz to claim the interim UFC welterweight title and a shot at champion Georges St-Pierre as well as wins by Fabricio Werdum, Josh Koscheck, Renan Barao, and Ed Herman.

Lol. They showed Diaz winning and Condit backing up in the UFC 143 Video Highlights for “Diaz vs. Condit”.
Fox is going to try and build off this. I smell a rematch.
You are more than likely correct, Dana already said he would be open to a rematch.
I didn’t even watch this but will just say it.
How did they show Diaz winning if he didn’t win?
if condit would have lost the descision i don’t think he would have cried about it diaz is a little *****
If Carlos didn’t get the decision he would have most definitely been upset and voiced it, and YOU (like many others here) would have b!tched like a little high school girl, guaranteed.
So are you saying that’s what diaz fans are doing?
Some are, yes.
And understandably so, to a certain point.
It was a very close 5 round fight, those types of fights always heighten emotion from the fans. If it had gone the other way there would have also been a backlash / call for a rematch.
Condit wouldn’t have wanted to leave the sport true champs come back from loses
Bisping didn’t even cry like that when he lost
@ Rick:
First of all, Bisping didn’t lose a 5 rd title fight and his opportunity for the ONLY fight he was truly interested in (the only reason Diaz came back to the UFC in the first place was the fact that he was given the GSP title fight…I take it you forgot that). Secondly, Bisping doesn’t have a history of being screwed by controversial UD judges decisions within the UFC, quite the opposite actually, Bisping was given a huge gift from the judges in the Matt Hamill fight.
Furthermore, you have no clue as to how Carlos Condit would have reacted if the decision had not gone his way Saturday night…being that he thought he won the fight he would have obviously been irate and a sh!t-storm would have followed.
Condit is a ****. Normally he fights but he knew he was in a different league and decided running was his best chance of not getting knocked out. Diaz won round 1 2 and 5 and Condit should be penalised for running. Rematch for sure. Nick will submit him for sure. take that to the bank.
I’ll take it to the bank and I’m sure it will bounce…
I’ll buy the rematch when and if it comes. Diaz didn’t want to sumbit him until Condit made the mistake and gave up his back. Diaz had attempted 1 takedown prior ( if i remember right )
Condit shouldn’t be penalized for running because he wasn’t.
Keep to your bandwagon. Diaz was/is good, Condit was/is better in this fight. If the rematch happens I could see Diaz winning it in the same fashion.
Joe Rogan, Don’t ruin your reputation with that kind of commentating. I felt like you were sitting close to some judges and were trying to talk them into scoring for Condit with your obvious comments when Diaz was smashing him
i agree he commented only on condit’s success, never mentioning that it always felt like condit was the one in danger and that diaz was undeterred – outpointed or not
Funny how when Muhammad Ali fought like that, moving around and avoiding damage, he was considered the best. I don’t remember you all complaining like this when machida did that to Tito.
I sure do remember a lot of fans stating that Rampage deserved the decision win for “octagon control” and “aggression” after his fight with Lyoto ;)
It can go both ways man.
P.S. Unlike the Condit/Diaz & for-mentioned Machida/Rampage fight, that match you mentioned with Machida & Tito wasn’t even remotely close. Tito was unable to take him down, but was himself taken down, dropped by a vicious knee, etc.
And at the end had Machida in a pretty good triangle choke.
@ bsbiz:
And your point is?
Were you under the impression that Tito nabbing a triangle choke, (after being out-struck, dropped by a knee, the pounded on), should have somehow gave him round 5? Christ, I hope not. LOL
And you could say that machida was “running” the whole fight since he would let Tito get a hold of him and fight his fight…..which is exactly what Condit did. It’s not running, its avoiding damage.
@ Advent:
Are we really going to compare Lyoto’s unique style of fighting and what Condit ended up displaying on Saturday night? I really hope not.
Machida has been utilizing that style since he was a child, & throughout his entire MMA career…winning numerous times by vicious KO.
Condit on the other hand has made a career out of being aggressive, ‘in your face’ chaotic, known as “a warrior”, and as “a true finisher”. He did not display ANY of those characteristics in Saturday night’s fight. He did not back up any of the “it’s going to be a dog fight” tough talk he used to hype the match, I mean seriously, he even stated he was going to “go in there and bury the Mother******”. LOL. Give me a break. In hindsight, it all smells as much like horsesh!t as when that dooshbag Anthony Johnson told anyone who would listen he was going to stand and trade with Dan Hardy, knock him out, and then ‘wooptie-doo!’ Jackson-Camp-ed his way to a very sad UD. Great stuff.
the word points is getting annoying
Nick Diaz: ” I’m not gonna be your friend any more homey”
Waaaaaaahhhhh
all the complaining about “running” is getting a little annoying. maybe we should make the fighters use cement blocks as shoes and let them pound each other till someone gets ko
I just got done watching the entire fight again. Yes Diaz pushes forward through all rounds, but doesn’t throw or land an increment of what Condit did. Condit with four vicious kicks to the head plus a plethora of crushing leg kicks. Knees landed, kicks landed, and punches landed. Diaz on the other hand only landed a fraction of his signature half power punches. Just compare their faces.
You act like Condit out-stuck Diaz by some massive amount, which just isn’t true. Diaz actually out-struck Condit in strikes to the head & body 111 – 91. It was only in the strikes to the legs department in which Condit won dramatically.
The only rounds where Carlos truly got the better of Diaz were the 3rd & 4th (which NO ONE is arguing he won).
The rounds in question were the 3 much closer rounds, like the 5th where Diaz secured the takedown, dominant position & sub attempt, as well as the 1st & 2nd rounds, which were both closely fought (Diaz pushing the pace, always pushing forward, landing head & body shots during both rounds. Definitely out-striking/outworking Condit in the 2nd).
Of the fighters who were tweeting last night, I think Jens Pulver put it best when he posted right after the 5th:
“Diaz wins via ring generalship, one moving forward, one moving backward. Ala Delahoya vs Trinidad in my opinion.”
And in terms of their faces, Condit had a pretty nice shiner himself.
IN this highlight, I saw Nick Diaz moving forward but Condit counter. Diaz would through 2 punches, Condit would counter with a 2 punch and kick combo and move away. It wasn’t like he just slipped and ran. Condit was throwing strikes. Im basing this on the highlight video because I did not see the fight and will see it for myself soon.
If Diaz really knew how to box he would have cut off the ring to prevent condit from moving around so much
I’m a new viewer of UFC, and what strikes me most about this sport that the _vast_ majority of these guys don’t know how to box for ****. Nick/Nate Diaz may have a reputation for landing flurries of punches that overwhelm lesser strikers with their reach and intensity. But if a guy can actually counter and move, well, he’s got a shot. In the highlights, I saw a lot of stick-and-move from Condit, neutralizing Diaz’s advantage and using other strikes to good effect. A close decision is exactly that, it means one guy almost did enough and the other just about did. A rematch seems right. Diaz, try it again. Condit, prove it again.
