KJ Noons had little time to celebrate following his dominant 48-second TKO victory over challenger Yves Edwards in the lightweight championship main event of Saturday’s EliteXC “Return of the King” event in Hawaii as lightweight challenger Nick Diaz entered the cage to call Noons out for a future title bout rematch.
Diaz, who defeated Mushin Corbbrey via third-round TKO earlier in the evening, was immediately held back from Noons by EliteXC in-ring interviewer Bill Goldberg and time is promised to both to discuss a now-inevitable rematch.
Noons talks first, asking the crowd if Diaz deserves a rematch for the EliteXC title which is responded nearly-unanimously with boos. Next, Diaz accuses Noons of being scared of a rematch and Noons responds to the comments by lunging at Diaz before a crowd of security and officials separate the fighters and restore order. Diaz is chased out of the cage in large part by Noons’ father, Karl, and exits with his camp to the dressing rooms while Noons is left to finish his celebration in the cage.
In their first meeting last November at EliteXC “Renegade”, Noons defeated Diaz at the end of the first-round via technical knockout due to cuts on Diaz’s face.
Though there was little doubt that an altercation was going to break out when Diaz was permitted into the cage following Noons’ win, the drama from the near-brawl combined with the controversial stoppage of their first bout make this rematch, which could take place on EliteXC’s third CBS card in the fall, a must-see.

Diaz is a PUNK!!. In the Noons vs Diaz fight, Diaz was getting beat and lost because of cuts. He then stormed out of the ring like the sore loser that he is, pushing cameras out of the way and flipping off everyone on his way out. Thats why the crowd was booing. Diaz is a great fighter but that doesnt make it ok to act like a Douche-Bag.

He’s dominated his last 2 fights against world class athletes and he deserves his place amoung conversation with the best of the mma lightweight/welterweights in the world. I have been fortunate enough to personally train with the man and I can honestly say from experience that his training is second to none. KJ’s so underated, even as a champion, it sickens me!!

If you saw the fights on cbs, after baroni lost, Gary Shaw was in the winners ear (forget his name)and was telling the guy what to say if the interviewer asked certain questions. All tese confrotations are definetly set up, but i believe Diaz could still have continued that first fight.

Diaz is a punk. Noons is a much better representation of a xc champion than what diaz is. However, it most likely a publicity stunt to help promote a rematch, and gain a little viewership back after that joke of a “Circus Act” they put on the air primtime.
I was so fortunate that my DVR f’d up and all I got to see was Noons beat Yves rather quickly. Noons is very impressive….though it is an older Yves now. I forgot Noons was from Haiwaii but Diaz is booed all over the place. I guess he is the type you love or hate.

There is no good representation of Elite. The whole promotion is dirty like a 57 yr old hookers vagina. I don’t care if Mary’s little lamb were the face of the promotion with care bears…..dirty dirty dirty.
I saw the whole thing…..Diaz is a great fighter, but I don’t think true MMA fans think he takes it serious enough! I mean, how many times can you get busted and suspended for smoking pot, not make weight, and keep flashing gang signs and be a Champion of an organization. Why do you think Dana White cut him? The ROI isn’t there! The whole fight thing was set up, if you watch Diaz’s fight, he doesn’t even want to talk to Goldberg and tries 3x to excuse himself out of the ring, but Goldberg keeps grabbing him by the arm. Then Goldberg announces that somebody wants to say something to Noons after the fight and he leads in Diaz with his entire entourage, including Nate Diaz. Nate and Nick are calling Noons all types of names and then Noons’ dad, Karl, got into with Nate verbally. That sent KJ Noons over the edge and he rushed Nick, Karl Noons had Nick in a choke pushing him out of the ring, and somebody from KJs corner threw 2 body shots on Nick. The whole way up the catwalk Nate and Nick were throwing middle fingers and gang signs, legit LA gang signs. I won’t be surprised if Dana gives Nate a little ring about his actions and how if that happens in the UFC, that he will soon be fighting with his brother in CheesElite-XC!

I never said I supported the Diaz Brothers. I’m also not a fan of Ortiz. I’m personally also tired of the disrespecful attitude of the Diaz brothers. This altercation however began with Koon’s corner, specifically his dad. Prior to that only words were being exchanged.

KJ has already beat Diaz. He stopped him in there first fight (stopped on cuts). KJ busted Nick up in that fight. He was cut over both eyes. I’m telling you guys, and I’ve put this on other posts as well, KJ is on the rise!!!

You see, Those kind of actions are what we dont need right now on mma. MMA is still a sport that many people dont like because they find it too violent. Although i think that Bull riding is ten times more violent then mma but thats not the point, The point is that EliteXC should have not set up that DRAMA STAGE for KJ and DIAZ as they did. Goldberg looked like Jerry Springer.
Nick gets cut in every fight (Noons, Gomi, quite a few others). He had surgeory recently to help it. He has a lot of scar tissue on his face and his eyebrows are always getting sliced open. Noons definitely won that round in the first fight but I think the doctor should’ve let the fight go on based on NIck’s previous performances when he appeared hurt. You gotta know the fighter when you are making that decision.
