Before facing Carlos Condit for the interim welterweight title on Saturday at UFC 143, Nick Diaz said in his official pre-fight interview that he believes Condit is a better fighter than champion Georges St-Pierre, who is pulling for Diaz to win so they can meet when he returns to action later this year.

hes just saying this so when he gets ko’d theres his excuse for not getting to gsp
Diaz is saying it cause it’s true it’s a harder fight. Condit possesses the KO power that GSP does not. I believe Diaz will be able to out box Carlos in the long run but he has the potential to get caught early. If Condit is going to win it will be in the first two rounds if this fight go’s more than two it’s a fight Nick shouldn’t loose….Condit has only been more than three rounds once and never five rounds and we all know that Diaz will not gas so after 2 I got Nick but I have a bad feeling that Condit will catch him in the first with a knee or left hook so my pic is Condit rd 1 KO
When you say he has more power than GSP, you must mean only punching power, in a boxing match that would make a difference maybe…i believe GSP is a lot stronger and would have more power in the ground game but i think the athleticism edge goes easily to GSP along with speed factor. Those factors are what takes away punching power from his opponents like Alves.
Here is what I meant Mike physically there are probably not too many at 170 who are physically stronger than GSP, But punching power is a whole different thing man….I would put alot of cash down saying GSP would never, KO diaz or even a flash Knock Down for that matter. Condit has the punching power that GSP does not. That doesn’t mean that GSP isn’t amazing, he just doesn’t have the hands that Condit does and really Diaz isn’t a power puncher either he is a boxer with crisp striking that takes it’s toll in the long run…guys like Koscheck, Condit, Belfort, Lidell, Rampage they have KO power Lidell wasn’t the biggest or strongest 205 pounder but he hit harder than anyone in the division, thats what I was saying..And if I am Diaz and I really believe in my grappling and boxing and transitions I am not as scared to fight GSP because he doesn’t have the power to KO in the beginning stages of the fight like Condit does
Condit has gone more than 3 rounds. Remember he held the wec welter weight title until wec was integrated into UFC.
“Condit has only been more than three rounds once and never five rounds”
thats why I said once man ;) he had a four round fight that he won in the wec days and that was the only one that went more than three… And that fight was over four years ago..Which I am not really saying that he doesn’t have good cardio I am just saying I know that Diaz will out last him because he is a cardio freak of nature…Because technically Diaz has only had one five round fight when he outlasted Noons
you should say condit has never needed more then 3 rounds except once and same with this fight he wont need more then 2 rounds
thats cool man But I’ll stick with what I said, But thanks for letting me know what I should say…I’ll try and think of that for the next time ;)
i understand a fighter gets better but look at the names diaz lost to Karo, diego, joe riggs, sean sherk, gomi, noons, the last time coming late in 07 yes but after that ok he beat frank shamrock, noons, daley which coulnt even make it to the title in the ufc, b.j in a decision which they both looked beat up, all im saying is he hasnt faced anyone like GSP and from my point of view he wont this time either calling condit 2rd KO
hold on there, sir. I dont if u just wiki’d his record and took it at face value, but that gomi fight won a fight o the year award and diaz won by go go plata, one of the first in pro mma history. The win was overturned because he tested positive for marijuana. Couple of his other losses came from cuts due to scar tissue build up in his eyes, because hes been fighting pro since he was like 18, he has since had this corrected surgically. Not to mention the diaz weve seen in recent fights is a totally different animal when u compare him to his first trip to the ufc. I give it to diaz by decision.
A loss is a loss…cuts or not
Diaz didn’t loose to gomi he GOGO’d him to a sub…His stupid decision to smoke the Hashish led to the NC. The other losses were six years ago man..I think that diaz will really surprise you it’s not just improving he his a completely different fighter, I look at him like I look at Overeem he was an average fighter ten years ago loosing to sub par opponents and look at where he is today. Diaz has never been a strong 170 pounder, power puncher yes strong physically no, given that he has had to work on his boxing, grappling, transitions etc and has become one of the top 170 pounders today….Just my opinion but if you have watched him throughout his career the man has stepped his game up a great deal since loosing to Karo and Diego
