Internation Fight League veteran Andre Gusmao has signed with the UFC and will make his debut for the promotion at UFC 87 on August 7th in Minnesota according to MMAWeekly.com.
Gusmao (5-0) was originally expected to face David Heath at UFC 81 in May but was unable to fight due to remaining contractual obligations with the IFL, where he had won four consecutive bouts.
Gusmao was last in action in September in the IFL, defeating Mike Ciesnolevicz via knockout in just 53-seconds.
With his IFL obligations now completed, Gusmao will take on a to-be-announced opponent at the pay-per-view event.
UFC 87 “Seek and Destroy†takes place on August 9th at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Headlined by a welterweight title bout between champion Georges St-Pierre and Jon Fitch, the event also features Brock Lesnar versus Heath Herring and Kenny Florian versus Roger Huerta.
